Window tint question

Anyone else see those displays with the heat lamp? It has a piece of glass with tint, but 1/2 is carbon (I think?) and 1/2 is traditional tint. The non-traditional side keeps it much cooler under the heat lamp.

I'm trying to find out if that is just a "trick" or if that non-traditional tint side really is better at cutting heat.

What type of tint is that anyway?

I can't really answer your question, but find someone who knows their ****, otherwise the tint will bubble within a year or so. In reality it should last many years.

Yeah, I've heard that a big key is getting the right shop to do it. That being said, there are so many manufacturers out there. 3M, UperOptic, etc. Not to mention types! Non-metallic, metallic, carbon, etc. And then %...50%, 35%, 20%, 5%!!! Reflective? Non-reflective? Brown? Black?

Sheesh.

If you are really looking for heat reduction, HUPER OPTIK is the best IMHO!!! I can't believe how much this tint actually reduces temps!

I have 20% 3M "ColorStable" tint, that IIRC, has carbon in it. I really like the 3M tint and will likely use it again for future tint jobs. Does do a great job at heat and light reduction, but clarity inside the car is still quite good.

Dude, I would so love to have HO tint for my car, but at $500 it's just not an option. I've found a couple shops here that offer that, and that's the price for my sedan.

I paid wayyyyyyyyyyyy less then that! Like *cough* *half* *cough*. I had to drive about 2 hours, but it's well worth it! When I got my G done, I didn't know about Huper and spent $180 for regular tint on a 2 door. I think since the guy I use does alot of commercial work in building, it probably get s agreat rate for the film from Huper.

Huper is very thick and tough to work with, which is why I think many shops charge so much. I think the guys that use it religiously know how to apply quicker then those that rarely use it. On LI I have heard of peeps paying 400-1000 to get Huper, but for what I paid, that's all I will use now!
