Lose the orange triangle?

I'm soliciting opinions here.

I'm thinking of pulling my headlights apart and removing the triangular orange plastic piece. I'd be keeping the reflector on the outer edge, only removing the center orange and replacing the bulb with an amber one to keep everything legal. I don't want to lose too much color since it is a white car and I'd hate for it to get too monochromatic. What do you all think? Would I be moving myself into the "boy racer" category? I haven't made up my mind on which way to go just yet and would love to hear what others think, especially from people who spend all day working on vehicles much more attractive than my own!

Thanks
- Andrew

I personally like it.

If you asked a year ago, I'd say delete it. Have you thought about adding some black to there?

Black in the headlights? The '05 models have a black inner headlight housing and I've never really cared much for it, always looked "less clean" to me.
The triangle seems to distract from the shape of the headlight to me.
Not my car, this pic is from Nasioc.com but gives an idea of what it would look like without the triangle (I wouldn't completely clear the headlights though). There is still a bit of color from the reflector around the bulb.

I used to like the clear look but I think of years of seeing cheap APC clear lights the clear look now looks cheap to me...even if it is not by using a cheap brand or using OEM.
My vote is to keep it stock.

Yea the cheap looking APC stuff is really whats made me hesitant about it. Its also the reason I wouldn't be clearing it out completely. I want it to look *mostly* stock, just cleaned up a bit. If my photo manipulation skills were up to snuff I'd use the Gimp to see what it would look like.

I gave it a shot?

Anyway, I think it'll look alright in clear. I haven't seen much rice when it comes to Subies, so I think you're safe from the raceboy stigma.
