brake dust

I drive a 2002 bmw 745I. I love to shampoo and polish my ride but I have a problem with brake dust on my rims. I can wash them today and in 2 days they will look like they were not washed. I've been told that it's time to change my brake pads but the dealer said thats not the case. He said it's the type of rims I have (factory rims for now). Someone told me to get ceramic brakes another said its a product out there that helps prevent the dust from sticking to the rims. Can anyone help me with this problem.

The wheels wont have any effect on the amount of dust, but depending on the design they could make it more noticable/harder to clean. Ceramic pads will cut out a lot of dust, maybe all of it. However I believe you will lose a slight amount of braking ability, but the newer stuff may have gotten rid of this problem. Wax will help keep the dust off of the wheels but in my expirience, wax isnt going to help you.

The amount of dust they are making doesnt meen they need to be changed, they will start to squeel when they wear down to the scrapers, but your best bet is to get some good quality ceramic pads. Don't waste your money on shields or magic potions.

In my experience, certain waxes/sealants tend to attract lest brake dust and make the wheels much easier to clean. I would recommend a regimen of Collinite 845 Insulator Wax every month or so, and use Mothers FX Spray Wax while you dry the wheels (couldn't be easier!). This should cut down on the dust sticking and should make it very easy to clean the wheels.

Same here. I put the dupont tire shine on my tires and wheels and boy does it make a difference. they will stay clean for 3-4 weeks with daily driving. being that it doesnt rain.
You can see my wheels on my cardomain. this was 1 week and 2 days after application
