New wheels

The new wheels, "hyper-black" Rota Torques, are slightly lighter and 1/2" wider than my old wheels. Now running 17x8 with 235/40/17 Falken ST-512 tires . . .

These were taken close to sunset. Unfortunately, all of the pictures that showed the entire car were too underexposed to give a good view of the wheels.

The tires came off my old wheels (17x7.5), so they're just ever-so-slightly stretched on the new rims. Handling is improved over the old Tarmacs, in part due to weight, and now that the sidewalls are more upright, better turn-in and less tendency for the tire to flex and end up on the shoulder.

The sun was disappearing behind clouds last night; every full-car shot I took was either exposed correctly for the silver paint, or for the wheels, but not both. Now that we have an extra hour of sun in the evenings, I'll be able to QD it and get some better shots tonight (knock wood).

They're not hard to clean, but unlike my last set of wheels (anthracite) that hid brake dust perfectly, these are, well, black. It's a very reflective metallic black, but black nonetheless, and shows every bit of dirt and dust. No more slacking on wheels . . . I won't be able to get away with it anymore.

Thanks for the comments. I was concerned about the color of the new wheels, as I'd never seen it in person before mine arrived from UPS, but I really like how it works with the Subaru silver.
