SilverStars

Got me some SilverStars today at Checkers. Their having a $10 rebate right as you buy, then you will get a form to send in for another $10 off, not to bad. So if you are thinking about buying some, this would be a great time to do it.

Sounds like a good deal. No Checkers in this neck of the woods, though.

I had some Silverstars, definitely an improvement over stock headlights but I now have the Osram Silverstars (European version) and they are even better. The light isn't quite as white but the beam pattern is much broader and longer. They are only in H4 (aka 9003) and H7 sizes though. $38 shipped from powerbulbs.uk.

If you have other headlight sizes though, Silverstars are as good as it gets short of HIDs.

Did you install them yet? Opinions?
What did you have in before?

I love the Silverstars. I have them in my F150 and they are a huge improvement over OEM.
For that price they are a great deal.

Improvement in what way(s)? Color? Light projection distance? Both? I've been thinking about picking up a set of those myself. IDK if there's a Checker around here though.

Paul,

The SilverStars replaced a pair of one-step above OEM Halogens, which were nice. Driving in regular traffic you see a difference, but when on a dark road all by yourself, all I can say is WOW! What a freaking difference like night and day, the road is alive and clear, put the high beams on and your in another world. They give off a white beam compared to regular Halogens which are yellow, these are true white for sure. For this price they are a steal, just not sure if all Checkers are giving the in-store rebate and for how long I'm not sure, but the Checker's rebate (Form) goes on for at least I believe the rest of the month. For $20 bucks off, I basically got one almost free. I will definitely buy the fogs as well later on. I almost forgot to mention, one of my headlight assemblies needs to be replaced because of a leak, there'e a bunch of sand and mud in there so they will even look better when that gets replaced.

Yes, you will see a huge difference in distance as well, especially with the high's on.

Checker Auto Parts... 3145 Church Street, Stevens Point! "We recycle used motor oil". Perfect! Because I've got a couple jugs of oil for them too!

How much was the pair when you bought them?

$38.98 plus tax $42.58 out the door. I sent in the rebate form for the other $10 bucks. So eventually $32.58.

Also check ebay for nice deals on SilverStars.

The entire Integra crowd swears by them. I have the 9005 conversion (9005 bulb in low beam instead of 9006). The light output and beam pattern are far far more superior than stock (I tried them side by side). The color is very very white with very little yellow. I like them compared to anything I've used other than HID.

I did the same with my Accord, huge improvement. Pretty easy to do too.

If you have H3 or H7, though the Osram Silverstars are better, they even have a sharp cutoff line when the light hits a wall, just like HIDs. Not as bright but the beam is nearly as wide and long.
