Have a question re: those replacement 9003/4/6/7 type halogen bulbs.
1. What is the purpose of that gray-ish metallic paint on the tip of the bulbs?
2. Any ramifications as to its removal with something like laquer thinner or denatured alcohol?
Given that most modern headlight assblys already have a focus shield in place, in front of the bulb end, then I'm thinking it shouldn't hurt to remove that gray-ish sliver paint at the end of the bulb.
My apologies, I just looked at an H7 bulb, and that does seem to be paint on the front (I must have been thinking of another bulb that had sputtered metal on the end).
