New Toy

Hey all,

Just got a new toy for my birthday. Actually my birthday is not until Nov 8 but, the sale ended tomorrow so the wifey let me have it early. It is a Craftsman 33 gallon Vertical Portable Tank Compressor, 6 hp.

Sorry for the awful picture but, it is late and the garage is a mess. Anyway, the compressor itself is regularly $329 and they even have some in the store at that price. They offer the same compressor along with a 1/2 inch drive impact wrench, mini ratchet wrench, air hammer, hose, quick connect fittings and other adapters with a carrying case for the tools, all for $299.99. In all a great deal I thought.

I was a bit shocked to see how expensive air sockets are. I got a set of 12 deep well sockets for $79. I also bought an accessory kit which included various adapters, a blower, tire inflator, etc... for $20.

I currently have new springs, struts and shocks waiting to go on the Mustang. I am just waiting until next payday to purchase a new set of rear lower control arms and a new set of sway bars before installing it all. I am going for a mildly lower stance, mainly going for stiffer springs and sway bars to firm up the ride.

what kind of springs and struts/shocks? i have a set of H&R springs (750 lbs/in for the fronts) along with Koni Yellow single adjustable struts/shocks on my old mustang. driving it around on bumpy roads with potholes and such was a PITA, but i think it make a great track car.

I picked up a set of 12 deep well impact sockets for $12 at the local Harbor Freight store.

They cary a nice selection of accessories for air tools as well.

Make sure to keep-up on oiling the tools as it will extend their life greatly.

The air blower tool is great for chasing water out of molding and crevices without getting dust and dirt from the ground all over the place.

The springs, struts and shocks are Bullitt Mustang Spec. They will only lower the car about 3/4-1" tops. I was looking for a bit more firmness rather than lowering without being too stiff. I think a lot of aftermarket springs are just too stiff for a daily driver The Bullitt springs are 600lbs up front and 250 out back vs the factory 450 up front and 210 out back.

I am kind of going back and forth between putting on Bullitt spec sway bars or going stiffer with an Eibach anti-roll kit. The stock bars are 26.5mm up front and 23mm out back. The Bullit bars are 28mm up front and 21mm out back. The Eibach bar are 36mm up front and 24mm out back. The cost is about the same either way. Anyone who has tried to corner with a Mustang will tell ya how much body roll it has.

I am leaning towards the Eibachs.

ah sweet.

how are the roads you travel on? in honolulu, there's a lot of potholes and such, so the Mach1's suspension is perfect, a little more on the cushy side. i think some Koni Yellows would be perfect.

Most of my driving is on open highway, I commute about 90 miles a day in the Mustang. Around town we do have our share of potholes and "unimproved" roads. I also work at a community college with enough speed bumps that it looks like a motorcross course. This was a big factor in deciding to go with the Bullitt kit since it will not lower the car any more than an inch. Even at stock height I have hit my gas tank cover on some of the speed bumps here at work. That was an additional factor in decided to get adjustable lower control arms. That way I can always raise the rear a bit if I notice a lot of problems with the rear hitting things like speed bumps and such.
