Mini gets new shoes and more!
I installed new wheels and tires today. For summer and the track I will be using my new Flik Wasp wheels and Yoko AVS ES 100 tires. Stock tires are 205's, I upsized to 215/45-17. The wheels and the tires combined save me over 7lbs "a corner" over the stock wheels and all-season tires. It's a good thing to remove rolling mass!
I also installed a Schroth Harness. It can be easily clipped in and out for daily driving. Don't see the wife using it much to get groceries.

Brad, love the wheels, I just bought a set of 18" anthracite Wasps for my GTI.
The Mini is coming along nicely.

That is a great looking Mini. Those wheels look great with your black top and stripes. How do you like the Mini on the track? Do you auto-x, driver's ed, and/or club race?

Yes, I do plan to take it on the track. Haven't been yet. April 10 is DE day at Gateway International Raceway. From what I hear, the Mini should be a blast. It will be interesting to compare it to the Carrera and determine which one will be taken more often to DE's this season. |
