Thumbs up Installed a neat mod on my mustang today!

I have always been so annoyed by the hood prop rod on all of the mustangs I have owned. I wish Ford would have done the hood prop that hinges up like on their trucks. Anyways I decided to try out Redline Tuning's attempt to create a better hood prop. It was a very easy install and the instructions were superb. The hood is very easy to lift up now as you can see in the video. I think it adds a nice touch to my car especially since many people ask to see under my hood. If you want one of your own, they are $60 plus shipping. They have other kits too, for different years. Here is their link:

Here is a short video I made that shows the hood opening with the lifters installed

Looks awesome! How do the struts attach to the hood? My only concern is how well our composite hoods will hold up at the attachment point.

My SS has those from the factory, it is a ton better than having a darn prop rod..

I did a similar thing for my Miata, it was one of the best and simplest mods ever!

You'd think on a 30K car you'd get those, y'know?

It's great!! My Explorer has them but when the hydrolics get old, they're worthless at keeping your hood up. I learned it the hard way.

agreed. On my maxima, I personally would like the prop rod better then the gas lifts - if the power comes from my hands, I'm sure it will never fail

It's a $60 gas shock.
Great idea, but you should'nt need a "kit" to do that yourself.

Ya I probably paid for the instructions and brackets more than anything else. But regardless, it is highly worth the money IMO if you own a Stang!
