Question Chrome or plating plastic. Who and were?

I want to have the grill in on my LX 470 re-chromed. The chrome under the paint is just not that good and I would like to have it redone. Has anyone had plastic or ABS replated. I have found places that do interior, but not exterior plastic plating. Thanks for any help.

...plastic plating? I've got NO clue where you could have that done, since AFAIK the finish on items like that is partially chemically bonded to the plastic. It might be cheaper to just buy a new grill, it can't be too expensive if it's plastic.

You might want to make it known where specifically you are. I could give you a couple recomendations for shops here in Salt Lake City, but I doubt that does you any good in Nashville, or wherever you are.

I live in east TN. I do not mind shipping. I found a place in CA, but the guy was kind of a jerk. So give me a number, I do not mind shipping out a part to a good shop. Thanks.

This has been a very active topic over at prowleronline.com for some time. The main points seem to be:

- it's expensive - $4-600 for a quality job
- a lot of disappointment
- quality shops seem to do one and never again

Suggest some research over there. The time will be well spent.

This Guy does not do exterior parts. He will do interior parts though.
