As of 8/15/03 HID kits will be illegal to sell

According to the info on www.liteswap.com they aren't going to be able to sell HID conversion kits after 8/15.

I guess you guys that are looking for that conversion can expect some pretty good prices on the kits since the distributers need to clear out their stock.

I know I'm going to have my eyes open. If anyone finds a smoking good deal on some 4500K 9006 HIDs then let me know.

Hmm. I just went to www.nhtsa.dot.gov and didn't see anything about this on their site...but, I've been known to miss a thing or two before.

Anyone have any links to official info? I searched through their site (nhtsa) and turned up nothing; I sure would like to know "for sure" because I might consider buying a kit for the Tahoe before it's too late.

According to the guy that runs Liteswap:

"As far as public notification, NHSTA has not yet released it. On http://www.sema.org you can find info regarding the "idea" of banning them and that NHSTA had planned to make a decision this summer... but I guess August is close enough..... "

kinda misleading from the liteswao site.....as he gives no facts but says things will happen......

I guess this just means to keep an eye out on NHTSA and what they will rule....
