Smile A couple pics of my project truck.

1990 Chevy C-1500. It doesn't look as low as it really is, but it's a 4/6 DJM suspension kit, with a C-notch and big tires.

Corvette LT-1 5.7L. Needs a good cleaning, and wire re-routing.

Just a plain old truck with a newer year model seat.

The bling of this thing is just amazing.

Thanks for the compliments.

I built the truck to the point that it's at today. When I bought it it was just a plain truck with nothing done to it. I've been working on it off and on for a little over 2 years. My plans are to build it as a show truck, but it will also serve as a daily driver once I finish it.

Yep, I did the engine swap and the drop myself. I'll keep everyone posted, but progress has been slow lately because right now it's down due to a bad opti-spark.

If it isnt too rude to ask - how much did the LT-1 set you back ?

Its one of my choices of powerplant for a future project... but only if it doesnt cost mega bucks!

If you do the LT-1 swap the way that I did, it won't set you back too much. What I did was buy a rolled over 1997 Camaro Z28 from a salvage yard. This was $1,100, and the Camaro had a six speed transmission, and the factory chrome Z28 wheels to sweeten the deal. So now I was $1,100 in the whole. I pulled the engine, transmission, wiring harness, and computor. Then I sold the complete six-speed transmission changover for $1,600 on Ebay. Then I sold the wheels (with decent tires) to a friend for $700. After that I sold the front two seats to someone over the internet for $200. There was $2,500 junked out of the car, and I still had the little bit of the car that was left, and my engine, wiring harness, and computor. So now I have $1,400 clear profit to spend on the changeover.

That $1,400 profit from the Camaro was spent on on the Corvette accessory brackets, modified wiring harness and computor, headers, air compressor, and AC lines. There went my profit. Everything after that came out of my pocket. So I still had the valve covers to buy, and the cost of the valve covers was around $250 for everything. And then there were a few odds and ends here and there that probably cost around $200 or more. Then to have the exhaust done with two Flowmasters and 2 1/2" pipe all the way to the tail pipes, it was $320. The air filter, and air charge temperature sensor also cost me around $125. And the transmission that I used was thre 700R4 that came in the truck, and I need to have it rebuilt.

So basically the cost on the engine swap cost me $1,000 give or take $50. If I had to do the swap all out of my pocket rather than buying the car, it would have cost me around $4,500-$5,000.

Sorry for the long post.

How did you get that Camaro for $1,100? And then make all that profit on it?

I never understood how so many people can run LT1's with no MAFs. Explain please.

My Dad owns a car dealership, and when the time came to buy a car with a engine we watched all of the salvage sales to see what was coming up for sale that had the right engine in it, and once that Z28 came up we went to that sale and bought it. We gave $1,100 for it because that was the going price at the time. The Camaro was wrecked beyond repair. It was a rollover. The only good body parts that were left on the car were the hatch, rear spoiler, and the driver side door. But the transmission, wheels, engine, rear suspension, front suspension, and a few interior pieces were still in good condition.

When I had the engine wiring harness made the computer was programed to let the engine run properly without the MAF sensor.
