Looking good. Most of those "riced" out vehciles annoy me, but this one has taste. I have always liked Celicas so that may be my biased opinion.
Good job. Welcome to Autopia

Definitely nicer than the 1985 Celica I used to have. Good car, but the 22R is a truck motor. Still it had a 5 speed and was the last RWD Celica. Had a 1979 also. Both were still running with 200,000+ miles on them.

I always wondered... why put a rear wing on a front wheel drive car?

While I am sure there are some people who believe that it helps, mainly people put them on for looks.

While many do put spoilers/wings on cars for the bling-factor, a properly designed-and-fitted spoiler's functional purpose is to counteract lift generated by the body of the vehicle at highway speeds. As such, a spoiler can be useful regardless of drivetrain layout, especially if the vehicle ever sees extremely high speeds at a track (or during covert canyon carving).
Some body kits, such as the OEM kit that can be purchased from Subaru for the WRX, have been wind-tunnel tested, are designed specifically for the vehicle, and actually do provide an aero-effect to reduce lift. Of course, most aftermarket wings are for aesthetics; however, when they're used correctly, they may benefit FWD, RWD, and (the beauty of) AWD alike.
