Need new tires, please help

Hi, I have 185/65R 14 stock tires on my civic, and they need to be replaced. Can anyone recommend any good brands of tires that have better stability than my stock tires but of the same size?

you won't increase stablity a bunch with the stock size, but I like yokohama and michelin. Right now I have the yoko avs es100s (215/45-17 on a 01 Accord) and they're great. The tread rating is 280, which is good for a sport-type tire.

Yeah the size I'm looking for isn't that great for a sport type tire. I'd really like to get a high-performance all-season tire, but from what I've seen they aren't good at the high-performance end or the all-season aspect.

What do you mean by "better stability"? Better straight line tracking? Crisper handling? If you are looking for a sportier tire, you have probably found that the selection is pretty slim in a 185/65/14. However, your rims should be wide enough to handle a 195/60/14 or a 205/60/14 (these are very close to the stock tire in height, so the speedometer reading won't be affected). I would also look for a tire with at least an "H" speed rating---they tend to be higher performance tires.

I wanted something with Crisper handling. I used Tirerack.com, really helpful site, and think I decided on either
1. Bridgestone potenza RE950 195/60R 14
2. Dunlop sp sport a2 195/60R 14
Anyone familiar with either one?

I have RE950s in 215/55-16 and am very happy with them. The SP Sport A2 is a direct competitor so will perform similarly. I liked the technology in the Bridgestone's so I went with them eventhough they were priced a little higher.

Both are fine choices for HPAS tires. Can't really go wrong with either.

Only thing I'm worried about with them is that they are 195 instead of 185 (what I currently have) and my car is lowered (zero wheel gap in front, negative in the back). I'm afraid if I make the tire wider then I might rub my fenders when I turn hard.

Hmm, then that's a tough one since you have aftermarket wheels. I would be more concerned with the wheels than the lowering job. You should be able to fit it since it's only 5mm wider or so (section width) on each side, and it's also a tiny bit smaller diameter. To get a really good answer though, the questions get terribly technical from here:

What width are your aftermarket wheels compared to stock ones?
Most importantly, what offset are these wheels compared to the stockers?

This is getting into the realm where a Civic forum might be more helpful (if someone has a similar setup)...

Yeah I'm gonna post that on superhonda.com, there is alot of people there with civics that should know. I really do appreciate all the help everyone.
