Door Guards?

I'm wanting people's experiences/opinions of door guard strips.

I bought a set for my truck when it was new -- they were Trimbrite brand, clear plastic, and had some sort of gel sealant beaded on the inside to seal them to the door. Well, a couple of weeks after I applied them, I started noticing condensation all along the inside (they were clear, so I could see right thru). the condensation didn't go away, and I was worried that it would cause the door edge to rust so I took them off. If I had bought black or chrome, of course I never would have seen the condensation.

I'd really like to have a decent set of door trim guards to protect against chips/dings, but I'm hesitant because of the condensation that I saw in my first pair.

Does anyone have any thoughts about this?

You may want to check out the 3M clear bra material. I had some applied to part of my door edges. The installer wasn't able to cover the curve in the back door. It's fairly invisible. My car is a medium gray metallic. On lighter cars it very had to see.

I was searching and came up with this post. I was curious as to what you guys thought of door guard trim: http://store.yahoo.com/brandsportinc/trmg-2150.html.

In my garage this morning, (in a half-awake stupor) I for some unknown reason, swung open the door without caution right into the top edge of my workbench. Something, I've been religiously careful about since I've brought the vehicle home.

The wood on the bench is soft on the corner so it left a small indent. From what I can tell (it was dark and I was late for work), there was no paint damage or anything but I could feel a small notch only with my fingernail. Hopefully, that was the extent of it but I'll inspect more when I get home.

Anyway, I was thinking some sort of trim guard may be useful to mitigate any future occurences. If installed correctly it can have a professional look about it and not stand out too much...what do you guys think?

This looks exactly like the type I was talking about in my original post ("Universal Pinch Grip Style", "Adhesive Bead Built Right In"). It looks OK on the car, but the condensation worried me...
