Can you clearcoat a SATIN/MATTE paint color?

Just wondering if it's possible to clearcoat a SATIN/MATTE paint finish without making it glossy? Here's an example:

Satin Black Lexus GS

Thanks in advance!

This is one of my bikes. It's flat black with a clear on top.

Re: Can you clearcoat a SATIN/MATTE paint color?

Atleast with PPG what makes it mate/satin/what ever else you want to call it is the clear. For instance lamborghinis paint for balloon white (pearl white) is a tri coat of base pearl white color and clear where as the Bianco canopus (matte pearl white) is also a tri coat with a base coat pearl white and matte clear coat.
