If you have open wheels it can make the brakes look nicer.
I opted for powder coat. I was rebuilding the calipers anyway.
Compared to the caliper kits it wasn't much more expensive. I have used high temp paint in the past in it doesn't last as long as powdercoating for a car that heats up the brakes and gets driven alot. Plus almost all chemicals will etch remove standard paints.

Uggg, I didn't see these questions before. Here's your answers. No my calipers did not come painted. To maintain them I use Eagle One All Tire &Wheel cleaner. I spray them down and give a few swipes with a toothbrush if needed. Takes all of a minute per wheels and they stay clean. Look I'm really not trying to be a jerk, I was just giving my 2 cents. It's funny how people can give opinions until it's not agreed with. There are 2 different type of enthusiasts. Those that love maintaining their cars and those that are into the modifying side of things. I guess I should have clarified. People who just like maintaining their cars I guess like or don't mind having their calipers painted. Those on the modifying/enthusiast side of things see it as cheap and ricey to paint calipers IF they didn't come from the factory painted. I can direct you to numerous sites where you can pose the question and you will quickly see exactly what I'm talking about. Again, I was just throwing in my 2 cents like everyone else was, it just to happens my OPINION wasn't agreed with so I'm the "bad guy.". Here's a couple pics you can kind of see the calipers since you requested to see them.

The cobra wheels are the proper size and offset for my car. I am originally a Mustang guy (first car a 66 GT and then an 89 GT)...I loved the look of these wheels then and when I found out they fit, were pretty light (21ish lbs for a 17x8), and cheap ($100 new from Ford) I jumped on it.
Eventually I will go with custom offsets and a much lighter wheel.

Reason I ask is because I painted my calipers two years ago with the duplicolor kit. They we're OK for about 6-7 months then in the winter in the subzero temps I washed with my car and was using warm water from inside. When I cleaned my rims with my MF and warm water my calipers paint just flaked off. I think the combination was too abrasive for it. I now need to strip the paint which will be a b*tch and repaint them. I guess you can call me a ricer for doing em red, but oh well. I'm just wondering if I should put a coat of clearcoat on the calipers after painting them? I'm also thinking about ordering the G2 paint if it's better.

The epoxy kits should hold up well, however; for the extra work I'd rather powdercoat. Plus I am not so sure how good it looks close up considering it's brushed on.
Powdercoating is how the factory does it as well.

there is NOTHING on my car that I have not had in my hands and changed or rebuilt
that includes the trans and motor I have trippled the Hp & tourque that the car car with ... can you say that?
also in that pic your calipers are alum or painted and easy to maitain
27 year old steal is a different story
