How to reattach badges/emblems?

What is good to use to reattach badges to fenders, rear panels, etc? I am looking for something that will keep the badges on, but not damage the paint underneath.
I was thinking of using some RTV Silicone sealant, but wanted to see what you all would recommend.
Also, I'd like to use a glue-type substance because I am actually reattaching small individual letters, not a full panel-type badge.
Thanks!

RTV will work great
f.y.i. they will need to be taped down for 24-36 hours
but after that you should be good to go

if I was reattaching small individual letters I would lay out a peice of wide tape sticky side up then arrange the letter to that to get the proper spacing then rtv and put in place and then let it be for a few days

Yup, if you want a glue, 3M makes an emblem and trim adhesive. I got some when I changed my wheel emblems and it worked great.
