Going to Memphis-need help

My best friend and I are planning on meeting up in Memphis for a weekend of fun.

Why Memphis? Long story, its just the hand we were dealt.

Neither of us have ever been there, we don't like country music, BBQ or Elvis.

We are looking for a hotel near "all the cool stuff", by that I mean, I'd like to be where I can park the car and walk to all the restaurants, bars and clubs, and not have to worry about driving anywhere.

Anyone know of a hotel that fits that bill? Nothing at all fancy, mostly just a place to bathe and crash...for maybe $100-$150.

Also, maybe the names of places to get some good eats and cold beer.

Been there once. If you like Blues you will like it. On restaurant that I remember being good was Charlie Vergos' Rendezvous Ribs. Great ribs.

Corky's BBQ is really good.

Optimum Polymer Technologies is in Memphis, maybe you should drop by there too.

Sorry I missed this and not sure when you are going, but I would stay downtown. How old are you guys? single?

I would stay at the Westin across from the FEDEX forum, but that might be a little more than $100--not much though.

You will be close to everything and the service is really nice--I even valet my "nice-to-me" cars there.

If you are single and would like to check out what the midsouth has to offer in terms of (younger) single women, be sure to walk down to the REDROOSTER about midnight and see what's doin'!
