Would socialism really be that bad? Seems to work well enough in Europe. Just look at the Euro compared to the dollar.

Social programs encourage a freeloading society that looks to the government to supply health care, personal protection, retirement and pretty much control all natural resources. The government also controls many of the major corporations and it kills small business. Capitalism is by far the way to go. Only those who work hard and try to make something of themselves are rewarded. I think its absurd that the people who work hard every day, went to school forever, and save up to start a business must keep up or support social programs. I would much rather manage my own business, retirement, healthcare, etc. and that will NEVER happen with socialism. Capitalism is far superior to Socialism, unless you are lazy or too poor to move and find work.

freezing alcoholics yes, but it always bugs me when eople say we are socialist. Yes we have more socialist laws and mor social programs then the states but we are harldy socialists. We are Canadian and we should be very proud of that

BTW: have you guys ever considered that its not the social programs that work, its the Badass Nuke wielding neighbors you have that keep you from being attacked and taken over, hehe just a thought.

Are we thinking of the same country? Canada, right? Take out your map and look north of the USA (I'm sure you know where that one is). North is up. Well, that is unless you're holding the map upside down. You'll know because the letters will look wrong. Canada is the really big country that isn't Russia or Australia. That Canada (the one that actually exists, not the one you've created in your mind) is pretty different from the one you're describing.

Oh, and if the U.S is what's keeping us from being attacked, who the heck is protecting Australia. Again, for the geographically challenged that's the big island in the bottom right of the map, not Greenland or Antarctica.
