Re: Obama wants to bankrupt coal industry?
Someone was holding on to that until the last few days before the election.
Needless to say, if it's as clear and unbiased as they claim it is, it's pretty damning and a potential game changer. 20 bucks says it's out of context atleast a bit though.

Re: Obama wants to bankrupt coal industry?
The campaign against Obama has been morally reprehensible. Here's a quote from the youtube page comments:
"Obama's real name is: Barry Soetoro and he is not a natural born US citizen. Barry Soetoro aka Barack Obama was born in KENYA. "
I remember listening to Laura Ingraham on the radio and one day she ended her comments right before commercial break with "BARRACK HUSSEIN (slight hesitation) OBAMA" (which translates to "A Muslim/Arab/Terrorist/Socialist MIGHT GET ELECTED").
That was after she did her impression of Obama and used a stereotypical black accent saying" Hey man. Yo Man". Unbelieveable.
Clean coal is good, right? Here's another link. Palin Unleashes New Attack Against Obama On Coal - From The Road
Also, I'll soon be quitting my job since coal miners average $66,000 a year. Nice!

Yeah, but the media coverage and corresponding bias is nothing but commendable.
I mean, considering that there have THREE TIMES as many negative press releases as positive about John McCain since the RNC, and during the same time there have been more positive than negative press releases for Obama....that isn't morally reprehensible at all.
Click me to see the proof in the pudding
Hmm... you tell me which "campaign" was worse.

Thats great and all, but coal miners tend to have a VERY short life span.

It goes both ways. One quote from one of Obamas supporters said something along the lines of if McCain wins we'll go back to the era of the Jim Crow South

Re: Obama wants to bankrupt coal industry?
I'm just wondering if anyone can explain to what about that video is so damning? What about it is surprising considering Obama's campaign until this point? He said he is going to tax greenhouse polluters who built outdated plants and that he wants to look into more effective ways of burning coal cleanly. If anyone honestly thinks he is going to "bankrupt" the coal industry... I mean, seriously.
I've never seen anyone flip out when a politician says we need to reply less on oil. Why not? People work in the oil industry!

Despite the fact that both candidates support clean coal technology, the McCain campaign tried to make the case that Barack Obama wanted to take away jobs from coal country in Ohio and Pennsylvania, and both Drudge and FOX were happy to oblige.
But just three years ago on the floor of the United States Senate, John McCain's Republican colleague George Voinovich of Ohio took to the floor to argue against a proposal by McCain to curb greenhouse gas emissions. McCain's proposal, Voinovich said, would "put coal out of business" and cost thousands of jobs, an argument that McCain did not contest.
In fact, McCain agreed that his plan would require sacrifice, but he also argued (correctly) that in the long-run, America would be better off. In other words, he made the exact same arguments as Barack Obama

Re: Obama wants to bankrupt coal industry?
Lets's put things in perspective. There are two places on earth that have "Clean" burning coal. One reserve was in the southwest that since has become a protected natural resources area and the other was Malaysia. (The southwest reserve was declares a protected natural resources area until the Clinton Admin. (second term) leaving only the Malaysians. Coal represents over 60% of US Energy production and the industry has gone "cleaner" for the last decade. Right now, coal is a home made cheap resource with high efficiency energy output employing thousands. It is not to say that there are no problems with coal (leaching from strip mining, inherent dangers and effects from working these mines, etc) but it is a cost effective means of energy production. The US has not had a coherent energy policy for 40 years and it will take the greater part of a decade to expand Solar, Natural Gas, LP, Wind, and Hyrdo to reduce dependance on coal. Regardless of who becomes President, the Coal industry is and will be a viable part of the US's energy production.
