If Obama wins
I truely hope the Republican's can behave better then the Democrats did when GWB won.
Going back to Gore-Bush-Florida fiasco it has been nothing but slander from the left and attacks. This temporaly was suspended after 9/11 but the democrats politicized the attack and have been ruthless and helped divide this country since.
I believe Obama is going to win and I know (that while he isn't MY choice) that I will respect him as president and judge him on his actions in office (and the results of his actions). I really hope that the Republican party can step up to the plate and lead by example, but I fear it is going to be Rush Limbaugh style slamming for the next 4 years.
By the same token if McCain wins (not likely) I really don't want to hear about fraud or have another 4 years of what we have seen from last 8 years of the Democrats.
Together we stand, divided we fall...
The only problem is that the losing party tends to try to divide the country so they can win again next time, and in the end we all lose.

Re: If Obama wins
Yeah it's all BS; both parties act like little school kids. It gives me a headache.

Re: If Obama wins
From a Canadian perspective, boy do the American elections take a long time compared to chosing a new prime minister in Canada. I guess thats the difference between chosing a President, while in Canada we choose the party, we do not vote directly for the leader of the party, so they don't have to convince province by province to vote for them. It does seem like an Obama victory unless the undecided all go the way of McCain.

Re: If Obama wins
I think it's fair to say that both parties used 9/11 to their political benefit.
I do agree with your premise, though. The U.S is way too divided right now as a result of the partisan politics. Here's to hoping you folks can sort of get on the same page.

I agree with the first part.......but, Bush won Florida back then by only 538 votes.......
Anything that close needs to be recounted. The wasted votes (for both sides) that were discovered could have easily changed the election. The behavour was indeed not stellar I'll agree with that but, it took a SC ruling to sort it all out. Close elections are no fun to be honest.......

OMG! After 2000, the mainstream media went through every scenario possible on the vote in Florida and Bush won them all! Is it equal protection to only have a recount in Democratic counties? Gore screwed himself by claiming a recount on only selected counties, which isn't allowed in Florida law anyway.
The 538 number was the certified number...the actual number, after MSM analysis, was much higher....and this is AFTER the MSM quelched the vote in western Florida (which is heavily military and conservative) by announcing Florida had gone for Gore with the polls still open for more than an hour.
I'm amazed that anyone is still playing that card....
Mike

Re: If Obama wins
I hope the Obama election finally unites blacks, and whites thats all. Ive felt for a long time that blacks hate me as im white, one on one we are fine, but in groups we are uncertian. If we can veiw each other as equal then Obama has created the greatest legacy in history. Hoping, and waiting MASK.

Mike, the only "card" I played was:
Close elections need to be re-counted........That was it.......
And it was indeed valid. It took a Supreme Court ruling to come up with governing protocal, and those just don't happen very often btw......
8 million votes decided by 538 was worth a second look. Don't think for one minute the republicans wouldn't have done the exact same thing......
Mike, Bush won the election of 2000 and 2004 and I have no problem with those final outcomes. I'm not saying that anything was "stolen"......Ok.....

Re: If Obama wins
The one big glaring isuue that no one has yet brought up, both in this election and 2000's is that the proportion of the electoral college vote did not follow at all the popular vote. Obama won with a 57% popular vote but got 75% of the electoral. Gore won the popular in 2000 and lost because of electoral votes so in reality those 538 picked Bush.
