Re: Sarah Palin

One thing to realize is that the republicans have painted Obama as an elitist, he isn't. Far from it, read his biography. I'm sure Palin has read it because she says she reads "All of them," LMAO. He grew up poor, and worked his way to the top. That's more American than any of these other candidates can claim. And if Palin can claim foreign policy experience by proximity, Obama's got her beat again, he lived in Indonesia and Kenya, so he has first hand experience.

If anything Obama could, if he was a lesser person, paint the republicans as hypocritical. A lot of them were born into successful households. Palin herself never really got by through hard work, heck she participated in beauty pageants, wishing for world peace and knowing how to achieve it are two different things to begin with.

I really don't see how a president you'd want to have a beer with, qualifies them to be president. And if anyone is going to attack Obama for going to Harvard that's got to be the worst reason to attack him for, especially because Bush "went" to Yale, all you can really say is he endured Yale.

I for one would like to see an intellectual in office, someone who knows how to use a computer, and even better taught Constitutional Law so he knows why something like torture, warrantless searches and wiretapping, and suspension of habeas corpus is a big deal. I still think that Obama would do a better job polishing my car than Palin, he'll at least read the instructions instead of praying that it'll come out right.

Re: Sarah Palin

I prefer a president who can land an F-16 on a carrier over a computer guy [By the way, did you know that McCain can't use a keyboard because of his war injuries?].

Teaching Con law prepares you for nothing; I can tell you that over my 30 years of practicing law, if I've learned one thing, it is that the law changes depending on who is interpreting it. If Obama had been a student of Con law, he would have realized that warrantless searches, wiretapping and suspension of habeas corpus have all been done before and are legal under many sets of circumstances.

McCain has consistently campaigned against torture.

And why do people always say "Obama will do a better job/is more qualified than Palin"? Obama is running against McCain.

Mike (Simonize for the win!)

Both McCain and Bush have landed jets on carriers, not F-16's but jets. I guess you would have to vote for McCain then. LOL

Dude, he lived in Jakarta from age 6 to 10 and only visited Kenya for 5 weeks. I guess its a tie since Palin can see Russia from Alaska. Obama is running against McCain and smokes him in experience.

We hear claims of experience here all the time. Just because you have been doing something for a long time doesn't necessarily mean you are any good at it

I guess that is another topic for debate

Re: Sarah Palin

Just one more thing to add is if anyone studies history is that war heroes make lousy leaders of nations. They're the first one's to declare martial law and the last one's to give up the power that that gives. Cesar, Napoleon, Genghis Khan, Hitler were once considered great war heroes of their people but what matters most is how they were remembered in history, a question W. answered "In history? We'll all be dead."

And landing a jet on a carrier does not qualify anyone to be president at most it qualifies them to have their picture taken with a "Mission Accomplished" banner taken over their head.

Let's be clear about a couple of things; the F-16 is an Air Force aircraft, has never landed on an aircraft carrier, and never will (not because the Air Force is "elitist", but because it was not designed or equipped for the stresses of carrier landing). Second, although McCain was a naval aviator and performed carrier landings, Bush was ANG, and has never flown an airplane onto a carrier. Bush was a passenger on the S-3 that landed under the "Mission Accomplished" banner.

Re: Sarah Palin

We experience but we really need better judgment. In the Bush terms, we had Cheney and Rumsfield. These guys had as much as experience as anyone yet look what we got --- attacked two countries in wars that has lasted longer than any in US history and no clear victory --- just some temporary stability (historically speaking).

Re: Sarah Palin

That comment (of McCain landing on carriers) was in response to the derision of his not using a computer, when, before he was injured, he was accomplished in handling equipment and technology far in excess of anything Obama has handled (except the teleprompter, of course).

People who hang out with terrorists and America haters have traditionally made poor leaders of America also.

Mike (I hope Obama tells the WHOLE story in his 30 min. commercial)
