This is one of the main reasons I would never vote for him! I hope that each one of you that actually view the link would think about the treasures you have around you, FAMILY, and never want a man that approves of this as President. Oh, yea, he thought this was OK! Our President has to be more compassionate then this!

Bring on the tolerant Liberals!
See, this is where simplistic thinking actually gets you into trouble.

I'm not against "partial birth abortion", but believe it or not, I'm opposed to abortion of any kind, yet for me, I still would support Obama (for a variety of reasons) but on this issue let me explain.

For me, the issue is not abortion (even when discussing abortion), the issue is "life" and what it means to you.

I have two childern, God willing I'll have a few more. I love my children more than I love anything, part of that stems from my love for life, all life. So here is where you and I probably differ...

I disagree with both Republicans and Dems on the issue of "life". Why?

Well, how, as a republican can you be screaming (on the one hand) about how "sacred" life is, and then on the other hand, you're out with a sign in front of a jail screaming "put the murderer to death". Huh???

What happened to the "sanctity" of life? Would Jesus have screamed "put the murderer to death"? In the same way, Dems are hypocritical in reverse. Pro-choice and anti-death penalty. That's why I am not a "party guy".

I support life, which means I am anti-death penalty, but again, I think Obama really nails is when he says... "nobody is pro-abortion".

I'll also add that I do have a bit of flexibility in my view in cases of rape, incest and where a mother's life is in peril.

Actually, he's on the record as saying he does believe in God, not religion, but even if he doesn't, isn't that his right (to believe whatever the heck he wants to believe)?

In this regard, who is more American, you or I? Do agree with the following:

"I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it"

what is wrong with not beliving in god? some of the more infunetial and most intelectual people in history have had a lack of belief in god. Heck many of our leader who do belive in god only cause problems (GW).
I fail to see how a lack of belief in a higher power makes you less of a person?

as for the being married, again I dont get this point. My local mp is a 40 year old unmarried man. He is one of the most dedicated hard working people I know. He knows he has responsiblties and works hard to fill those. Not having a wife and kids does not mean he is irisponsible, it means he has not found a person he feels he wats to live with for the rest of his life. As far as i am concerned its better he do that then become a divource stat.

as for the drug addiction, well im not going to step on that one... I have opions but i wil leave them be.

to be honest im not sure who you are even talking aboutm, im assuming an independents, however i am trying to show you that you have jumped to unjust conclusions. How about you listen to the issues and not if a person belives in god. After all there needs to be a seperation of church and state in order to protect the rights of all a nations citizens (including yours)

Re: Obama or McCain?

Since I speak both Canadian and American...

MP = "Member of Parliament".

If he has said "MPP", it means Member of Provincial Parliament.

Calgarydetail,

From now on, I'm charging for the translations! LOL

Further translation...

Member of Parliament is most similar to a member of the US House of Representatives.

MPP = similar on a provincial/state level.

I gotta tell ya, I get a real kick out of this type of statement.

Do you REALLY believe that ANYONE can be any wose than Bush?

Lets look at his record...

1. He inherited a booming economy and a yearly surplus.

2. He (and partly Clinton) flubbed any chance at stopping 9/11.

3. He invaded a Sovereign State based on a lie (WMD).

4. The US continues to hemorrage US taxpayer money in Iraq.

5. He's now losing in Afghanistan.

6. While we're running the biggest deficits in our history, Iraq is running a surplus.

7. 4,000+ dead (brave) soldiers, more than 25,000 wounded Iraq Vets who need full time care (often given to them by their parents since the care for our wounded has been abysmal by in large).

8. He has presided over a catastrophic financial meltdown which has led to a 700 billion dollar (socialist style) bailout of corporate America (remember, welfare is ONLY bad when given too poor people, but it is "necessary" for the wealthy).

9. The taxpayer (you and I) will be paying for 8 years of Bush (through higher taxes) for the next 20-30 years.

10. The next President is already screwed, regardless who it is, because of 8 years of a moron currently sleeping in the white house.

So, what's to be afraid of? 8 years of Bush has killed me yet and while most of us are close to death (on account of 8 years of "conservative" rule), if Obama pushes us over the ledge I can't pin the blame on him since Bush marched me the 200 miles it took to get there.

BTW, Obama really gets it right when he put a spin on the Reagan phrase... "are you better off than you were 4 weeks ago"? Republicans...pfffft.
