Re: Obama or McCain?

The Webster meaning of maverick is: an independent individual who refuses to conform with His group. Seems to me McCain is conforming to a McBush! A range animal, the rest of the definition!

Lastly, does anyone REALLY think that 1 man in the White House will actually do a thing to fix this? I know I will not vote for a closet socialist to fix what is left of our democracy.
why dont you ask Colin Powell if he would say the same things again to the UN that he said in 2003.

Re: Obama or McCain?

Wait ,what about the S & L's that went under years ago. Mr McCain had his hands in there. It's fact. You have to read more than your city paper. dave 40co
I'm going to tell it like it is. There are some whites that will never vote for a Black man to do nothing. They will cheer for their favorite team, football, basketball, baseball, golf whatever. But when it comes down to them sitting at the same table with a Black Man and eating. Taboo! Not Way Hosea!
Unless you have walked in a Black Mans shoes, suffered ill treatment. Been refused food,or service ,or a job, or housing. Or gone to a hospital and been denied treatment. Sent to the back door. Stood up on the bus. Threatened ,beat hanged ,imprisoned because of your skin color. You do not have a Clue what it is to be Black in America. So for me ,I'm proud that someone that resembles me has a chance. I'm also proud for Sarah Palin , because she is a woman who has gone further than any other woman to run for VP. Does she have what it takes ? I don't think so. But yet she is there, that with in it self is an acomplishment for Woman! This is truely a FREE country. We can worship, live, work,be a bum, live on the streets, choose your sexual orientation and still be excepted. Dumb smart, whatever. But Be Black, and you are cursed by OUR society for ever. It does not matter how much money you have, where you live, what you drive. I'm still a Black Man,and that's putting it mildly. In the end WE will all stand before GOD, and Our race will not come into question!

As far as reading, I am very well read, but not Rolling Stone Magazine which also owns US magazine. Both have put out terrible stories about Palin and R.S. has been sending out their latest issue with a story on her unsolicited to teens. I would vote for J.C. Watts for office but not Obama and it has nothing to do with race, just his associations and beliefs. Of course if he or any other conservative black ran they would immediately be called an uncle tom or worse. I will not ever understand what it is like to be black because I am white. I do have several black friends and grew up in a mixed suburb of Chicago, went to school with Doc Rivers older brother. I have been the victim of reverse discrimination because they had to hire a minority to fill a nonsense quota deal. I was also a victim of discrimination when my company fired me several years ago. I won my lawsuit, but that feeling is horrible and I am sorry that people have to go thru that.

Are you trying to put words in my mouth? It is convenient for him to say he is black for the votes. His running mate said "He is clean and articulate." What the heck is that supposed to mean? That is what you should be asking! Other black people aren't? I was just pointing out the obvious.

User name, do you have something to hide? The program applies only to calls or e-mails where someone in the United States is in contact with a person abroad who is believed to have links to al-Qaida. Under presidential order, the requirement for a court warrant in order to conduct a wiretap, in essence, is waived.

I will say one thing.

There is only ONE intelligent choice.

Something to hide??? LOL

No, but let me ask you what it means when you say "who is believed to have links to Al Qaeda". I remember being told about the "bonafide intelligence" about WMD, which was wrong. How do you and I know who has links to anything or anyone?

Let me tell you a quick story about me, to allay any of your fears... my grandfather came to America in 1924 and eventually moved to Canada, but his reason for coming this way is because his father (my GG) was murdered by "islamic fundamentalists". My grandmother (who lives in Detroit), has the same story. Her father was murdered by Islamists as well. I get it because it has hit me personally, but you can't discard the Constitution and what the founding fathers wanted because of scare tactics and fear mongering.

The Constitution protects us both, watering it down only exposes us closer to the tyranny the Founding Fathers feared.

Re: Obama or McCain?

Dave,

One last thing about your Al Qaeda bit...

Did you know that 11 of the 18 9/11 hijackers were fighting in Bosnia before they boarded those planes. Do you know that our (American) government supported them during that war (Clinton)?

Do you know that the current Bush administration STRONGLY supports the Islamist government in Bosnia? Do you know that the CIA has reported (at length) about Al Qaeda training camps in Bosnia, yet Bosnia is an American ally.

So, if you really think the warrantless wiretaps are really meant to protect you, don't you think we would be better protected by not helping arm the Islamists in Bosnia?

Next tid bit for you to think about...

1. Do you know which country is the single biggest producer of Heroin? If you guessed Afghanistan, you'd be right.

2. Do you know which is the biggest distribution point of Heroin in Europe? (This one is much tougher) If you said Kosovo, you'd be 100% right.

3. Do you know what the two have in common? Both are run by Islamists, both have US troops on the ground and both have US proxy governments.

Now, I won't write anymore, but start getting your creative thinking going and put some scenarios together. If you are gobbling up this "fight terror abroad" BS, well you are as gullible as they want you to be. There is so much more at play than simple terrorism.

Wow, sorry to hear that! You are aware of the left position viewing the Constitution as a living breathing document? What do you think of that and their agenda? BTW, know any good lawyer jokes? LOL

Too many good lawyer jokes, I just wish there were as many good lawyers.

As for the Constitution... well, I think you can probably guess, Justice Scalia and I don't exactly see eye to eye on that point. My complete answer would take too many pages (and I don't have the energy), but I think I fall somewhere in between Scalia and Ginsburg.
