Meguiars Quik Detail Pad

Other than the NXT tire cleaner which I bought at Big Lots, I also bought the Meguiars Quik Detail Pad for 2.99. The packaging says it's designed for use with QD's, and I immediately thought about using it with Aquawax. I always have problems with my MF's becoming mangled when I use it with Aquawax, and I thought that maybe this would be a good choice. What do you guys think?

Re: Meguiars Quik Detail Pad

I have a ton of those, I use them for washing. I have never used them for QD, but they would probably be good for AW (making mental note to try it next time). I never thought $2.99 was a good price for them, the list was $3.99, some places were selling them for $4.99. I got a few when Advance was closing them out at half price, also ADS had them at at $2.29 or so a while back.

Yea, I thought 2.99 was a great price, but after I checked online, it's only $1-2 cheaper. Whatever, I still saved some money

I'll definitely try the AW with the pad next time. I don't really enjoy having to constantly adjust my towel when it becomes scrunched up while applying AW.

I use these all the time to spread spray toppers such as AW, AJT, OCW, etc. They are excellent for spreading becuase they don't scrunch up or come unfolded like a folded MF towel can sometines do. Then I usually use a quality folded MF towel to buff off the residue.

I use them to apply AW with good results. It's more comfortable than with a plain MF.

Re: Meguiars Quik Detail Pad

I use the Mef QD sponge to apply and remove leather cleaners and leather conditioners. It's the bomb for leather. I have very limited success using the QD sponge as a QD detailer.

How so? Does it absorb too much product? That was one of the criticisms I heard.

Re: Meguiars Quik Detail Pad

Yes, it absorbs too much product and after about 1/4 of the car it's too saturated. Then it just smears the QD around. That's after the car is clean after a washing.

In between washing it gets worse. I typically dust my car and then use MF cloth to wipe down using my favorite QD. The MF will show at times some light dirt and I switch to the next clean fold. With the QD sponge, I can go through about 4 sponges so as to always have a clean surface. I have excellent MF towels that do the job much better. So I am just using the Meg QD sponge for the interior only. It's excellent for that use.
