Sean: Great info & work as usual! I'm in total agreement with your methods & conclusions regarding the Z's. My questions for you are as follows:

1) For me, I've found that terry applicators soaked w/ distilled water & spritzed w/ Z8 work best when applying Z5/Z5 Pro/Z2 Pro, as opposed to foam or even MF apps. Do you have any insights on your choice of applicators?

2) You've hit the nail on the head with your Z5 Pro/ Z2 Pro observations/descriptions. In your opinion, does Z5 Pro produce more depth on dark colors when compared to Z5? ( I'm in "carnauba mode" this summer & I've yet to test Z5/Z5 Pro side by side on my black sand pearl paint)

3) Have you tried a light (very light) spritzing of Z8 on the paint surface before applying Z2 Pro (with a damp app) inorder to more evenly/thinly apply the thicker Z2 Pro?

4) Do you prefer thick-plush napped mf's or short napped mf's for the removal of the Z's? ( or waffle weaves?)

G35stilez will become famous soon enough
1) I like very tightly knapped MF applicators, but I talk to mgm2003 and he loves the Zaino terry applicators. His neighbor liked foam. I think it's all a matter of personal preference. The one thing we do agree on, though, is priming the pad with distilled water, z6, and/or z8.

2) Yes, I think Z5 Pro provides a bit more depth than Z5. I think you will notice the most on black, so give it a shot. I tested it on my Red Integra (sold) and it was minor, but noticeable. I think the wetness and ease of use also increased, too. It's a whole package .

3) I have not! Good call, though. I might give that a go.

4) Again, personal preference. mgm2003 swears by the white Cobra towels from CMA, but I love deep knapped, plush MFs. The main thing that I've found, is using a dedicated LSP towel, meaning nothing else is used with it (with the exception of z6/z8). I also wash these premium towels with the WW drying towels. The rest of the towels go in a separate load. This insures the maximum performance.

Great questions; hope my answers helped.

Hey, another poster from Omaha!

BTW, there is a local distributor of Zaino if you ever need your Z asap; he lives around 120th and Center. PM me sometime if you'd like his contact info.

Sean: Thanks for your replies. Much appreciated! Through my trials with Z2 Pro ( i.e. "learning curve" ) I found that giving my terry app a good soaking w/distilled water-wringing it out really well-2 good squirts to the app of Z8 & light squeezes of the app to blend the Z8 into the app works very well for applying the thicker Z2 Pro. However, when I followed that process & gave each panel a "light" misting of Z8 just prior to applying Z2 pro, it made for an easier Z2 Pro application process.

Well I just placed an order because of this thread and because my brother is getting a new Blue BMW soon. Already have Z5pro from a trade, order Z2pro, ZFX, Z6, Z8 and a shirt.

This maybe old school but I have always found that the Z2 and Z5 sealants are easier to apply if I QD the finish with Z6 prior to applying. This realllly slickens up the paint for easy thin spreading of the Z2/Z5PRO. This in addition to spritzing the cotton applicator with Z6 of Z8. I never use or add water to the system even though it is okay to.

Your wait is going to be over soon.. because I know Sal is working on it.

The BMW will look stunning with the new Zaino!

Use some on the wheels as well to aid in brake dust removal when washing. BMW's seem to always have a boat-load of brake dust.

As always, THIN! Too many people new to Zaino who have used waxes seem to apply it like a wax. Too much and you get the streaking.

Maintain it with the Z6 or the new Z8 and next time you wash it, see how easy everything comes off.

As for new products from Sal, you just never know! All I know is that the new Z5-Pro looks killer on the Porsche and it's maintained with Z8. Very glossy, but deeper too! Thank God, no more "plastic" look! Now if I can only find time to remove some minor marring and re-do the finish again.

I'm going to try the Z-16 on some of the rubber items in the engine bay to see how it does. Seems to hold out very well on tires with no browning at all! Better not, these P Zero Rosso's are not cheap.

Sal needs a really good plastic cleaning/treating product for paint films, now THAT would be nice!

Regards,
Deanski

ooooh, new zanio product? please tell us what you know It would be nice to use z5 or z2 without the zfx mixing.... the extra step is definitely worth the results, but that's one less product I would have to buy.... it's a little hard to count how many drops are left in that little ZFX tube

I tested Z-5 and Z-5 Pro. The Pro version seems to have more depth to my eyes as well.
