Reviewed: Lake Country Polishing Pal

Product: Lake Country Polishing Pal

Price & Price Per Ounce: $19.95 - $21.97

Manufacturer Claims: The Pad and Handle Kit comes with an ergonomically urethane handle and 4 interchangable hook and loop foam pads to use for polishing and waxing. Finally you can polish and wax your vehicles by hand without feeling the strain afterward!

Packaging: I recieved this item for testing from Lake Country. The kit came in a small bag and included the handle, 4 pads, and a clay disc (will review at a later date).

Color/Scent/Viscosity: The handle piece is thick coated foam. It feels like a stiff nerf ball. It comes with a yellow cutting, blue light cutting, white polishing, and black finishing velcro pads. The clay disc is pictured but will be reviewed at a later date.

How I used (as per instructions): I used it as I were buffing by hand with an MF or terry applicator. Just apply some polish to the pad, spread out over the surface and buff a 2' x 2' area using up and down polishing motions and work until the product is almost dry. The polishes behaved exactly as they would with standard Lake Country pads.

Overall Thoughts: I was a bit skeptical about using this as I rarely like taking out tools other than my polisher when working. I tried this out on a spoiler I'm selling and was able to polish out scratches and swirl marks. The handle feels great and is a piece of cake to hold. Its squeezable form lets you know you are applying equal pressure to the pad. The pads cut wonderfully and left a swirl free shine using:

-Hi-Temp Extreme cut with the yellow pad
-Poorboy's Polish with Sealant with the white pad

Other Notes: Wash the pads in warm water with a detergent or throw in with your microfiber load.

Looks like it is perfect for those hard to reach areas. My Optimum distributor sells Lake Country pads, I'll have to see if he has this kit.

Nice thorough review, Sean.

Scott: I've polished by hand a few times like you used to (with a terry towel folded in 8ths) as well as a terry/mf applicator. This thing would've cut your 'hand-job' time in half.

Another thing I thought of was to apply sealants with the black finishing pads on this...It might work out well.

Very similar to the Wolfgang/Pinnacle Polishin' Pal I've been using for some time now. It's a great tool to have around. Very easy to apply significant pressure to a pad when you've got the nice urethane handle attached to it.

Interesting tool Sean. I can see the benefit for light hand-based buffing.

great review Sean, this will be a great help and save my hands while polishing around tight areas like the license place area and under mirrors that don't fold

Looks like it might work very well for spot fixes and getting into and around some tight corners.

This is interesting. I've been oscillating on buying a PC to tackle some of the tougher imperfections in my car's paint. This may be a low cost alternative.

If I’m not mistaken it's a Lake Country product.

Sean.
Did you ever do a review on the Lake Country Foamed Wool pad?

I received a sample of one last week and have had not been able to use it.

Yes, I believe it is a Lake Country product. The Pinnacle/WG product even comes with LC pads.

This piece is made by Lake Country. Pinnacle sells it under their name, but its actually an LC product.'

Ron: No review yet, but after preliminary uses, it cuts like wool but finishes like a foam cutting pad. I was able to go right to FPII after Powergloss @1500 on the foamed wool. I think you will like it.
