Anyone having trouble layering Z2pro?

I've been trying to layer Z2pro after PCing with very limited success. The first time around I used AIO to clean the surface then layering, a few months later I tried Z fusion followed by another attempt. I was able to put one very thin layer down, allow it to dry then buff out. In both cases I was unable to put another layer down, the Z2 only slid across the surface with none staying behind. The only way to get any on there was to apply excessive amounts then waiting a long time to let it cure. I've never had this trouble with the old Z2 formulation.

Has anyone else had trouble puting more than one layer down on a fresh surface?

BTW - This was applying by hand, I'm considering using the PC at this point.

I never have any trouble layering Z2pro. I always use a PC with a gray Propel pad and speed at
3 1/2.

How is the loss due to absorption, is it comparable to manual pads?

I guess I do lose almost as much product to prime the pad as I put on the car, but its so fast and the only way I've been able to get that thin layer down.

I've never had any problems with any of the Zaino products. My Zaino experiences are all by hand, producing teriffic results everytime.

Maybe I had a bad bottle, it seemed gloppier and stuck to the sides of the bottle. The old stuff rolled right off the bottle's sides.

No, the Pro coats the bottle unlike the previous formulation--makes it tough to clean out, too.

My exact question?

What type of applicator pad are you using? Sponge, cotton or MF?

My only problem with layering Z2-PRO is applying an addition layer when after a wash alone (no Z6 or Z8 wipedown) the vehicles shows no sign of needing it.

The perfect appearance requiring only a wash can be very boring for someone that likes to masturbate his paint.

Are you priming the pad? If so with what?

I never had luck using the PC, when I tried it I used 2-3x more than by hand.
If you are using ZFX, be sure to shake up well, then let sit for 15-20 minutes to react with the Z2.

I use foward and back overlapping motions. It goes on thin and at some spots looks like I missed, but as it hazes, what looked like was missed, actually had a very thin coat.

But I would call Sal...I agree all my Zaino flows around inside the bottle, Ive never had "glops". Maybe you do have a contaminated bottle...

My technique is get the pad wet, wring it out, then spraying with some Z6. I put some ZFX+Z2pro on the pad then apply going in straight overlapping passes. I let the Z2 cure for about 30 minutes which is more than enough to get it dry in 90 degree temps. I buff it out then Z6 it to remove residuals. Using the same pad I repeat the process but the stuff just slides across the surface leaving nothing behind so the original load can do the car several times over, that would be efficent use if any stayed behind.

I've tried terry & mf pads, both failed miserably. I don't trust foam at all, even the softest foam seems too stiff.

Most of the bottle is gone so it may be difficult to call Sal about it. Come to think of it I probably chucked it, i'll have to double check.

ericthebikeman,
Try applying without first pre-moistening the applicator with water. IMO this is not necessary and dilutes the product being applied and possibly effecting the resultant appearance. I just moisten with a little Z6 or Z8 and apply. I re-priming applicator only when necessary to allow even thin hand applications.

Z2-PRO is a "heavier" product that "does" require a little more effort to apply than the older Z2 or even Z5. Small price to pay for the rich appearance of this LSP with durability.

Hope this helps.
