Meguiars #9 question

Hello everyone,
I'm sure this question has been answered before but i cant do a search with the "9" so ill just post my question. Im sorry again if it has been answered before.

I originally was going to use #5 followed by #26 this weekend on my truck. It is silver so it looked flawless. Well i was outside in my garage the other day and saw some pretty minor swirls on it. You can only see them if your really looking for them and under the right light and angle. Well being an Autopian, it doesnt matter if you cant see them or not, its driving me nuts!

My question is, will a coating of hand applied #9 take care of this? Also is #9 a glaze as well? If it is then #5 is not needed right?

How aggressive is #9 and can I use it on spots with no swirls?

#9 is a glaze with very mild abrasives so if you use #9 you don't need to follow up with #5.

Whether #9 will remove the swirls or not will depend on how severe they are and how you apply it. The only way to really know is to try it on your paint.

Keep in mind that "a coating of hand applied #9" or any other product for that matter won't remove swirls, you have to work it in. Removing swirls is a cutting operation so you need to put some elbow into it.

I find #9 to have extremely little cutting effect applied by hand. If your swirls are very, very light that may be fine. A PC will get farther with it but I usually use a rotary.

You can use it everywhere, swirls or no, as a glaze. getting the glaze benefit doesn't require so much elbow because you're adding oils, not removing paint.

#9 probably won't do much by hand-might want to step up to Mothers PowerPolish if your working by hand

Jim, if you haven't already bought #9, then I'd get PowerPolish (MPP). I've used both and #9 is a major dissapointment. MPP still requires elbow grease but it's designed for hand use, removes more defects, and has a better glaze finish.

BTW, if you want to search any of the Megs numbers, put in the wildcard symbol, eg, #9* or *#9* or #83*.
