quik detailer and effects on repaint?

Hello, I been using megs quik detailer on my new paint. A few paint issues have occured that makes me need to repaint some panels. I just found out that quik detailer has silicon in it. It is known that previous use of silicon is the cause of fisheyes in repaints. Is my quik detailer use something I need to be concerned about when the bodyshop repaints the panels. I havent used my quik detailer for about a week and have switched to spray and wipe.

hehateme - Welcome to Autopia. *I* wouldn't worry about it, just make sure the painter knows about it so he can take appropriate action. No matter WHAT was used on the paint, proper prep work, including the use of a PrepSol-type product to clean the surface, should take care of it. I've had a LOT of paintwork done over the years and whatever product I'd been using wasn't an issue unless the painter messed up.

I just had work done on my Volvo on an area where I'd been using Griot's Undercarriage Spray (a VERY serious silicon product indeed!). I warned my painter about it and there were no problems.

Thanks for the welcome and the reply. I figured it would be ok since it such a mainstream product. Since the door they would need to repaint is affected with fisheyes, I would assume the bodyshop will go through all the cleaning steps anyways. I am kind of worried they will blame me if I tell them I used a quickdetailer that contained silicone. I have wrote megs but I am still waiting for their reply.

Thank you for your inquiry. You have nothing to be concerned about. The Quik Detailer does not contain any silicones or non paintable ingredients. Even if it did it does not leave anything on the vehicle and would come off very easily in the prepping process. I hope this helps you out.
