Yup. Learned that the hard way when I first started using clay. My brother dropped the Meguiar's clay on the ground, so out went the $30 clay!

Hmm, maybe the reason why the Z-Bar "seems" more effective is the fact you're using a car wash solution? Try using the shampoo on all the other bars, and see if you can yield similar results.

Or maybe this is an abrasive, overspray-cutting bar?

I just did a test today with the Clay magic bar and the Z-Bar. Had a piece of contaminant on the hood. I did a couple swipes with the claymagic bar, It still was not perfectly smooth. One pass with the Z-Bar and it took off everything that was there that the Claymagic left.
Is this really fair? You went over the contaminant with claymagic and the went over it AGAIN with the Z-bar. Obviously, one could argue that the claymagic aided the Z-bar in contaminant removal. I would think that trying to split up the hood area that had the contaminiant on it and using each bar separately would be more fair.

A couple of points...

about this thread, and the previous, since my product was not mentioned too kindly:

We do offer our clay in a container, when it's purchased in our professional line. The bar size is 240 grams.

Our clay (along with every other product we make) has a satisfaction/money back guarantee. Very few bars come back (even some in the wrapper with comments that the clay didn't do anything). Far more clay bars are stolen out of the box than come back from satisfaction returns. I believe every manufacturer listed offers a similar guarantee. I fail to see how this brand's is better than any other's.

"Zebra" clays (black and white stripe) have been around some time. All of the ones I've seen have been quite aggressive, and the white is a silicone caulk type substance. Due to their aggressiveness, they're inappropriate for consumer use, as they will mar the surface.

I don't think it's fair to compare the cleaning ability of a mild consumer-friendly bar, no matter the brand, to an aggressive bar - that's like comparing a Z06 to a Cavalier.

I've also not seen or heard any complaints of our bars crumbling under use.

Either have I. This is the first time I have heard anything negative about your claybar. I really wouldn't worry too much about it though, you can't please everybody all the time. Maybe you should make a half pound clay bar with a velvet lined carrying case?

Well, seeing how the original thread starter has been banned, I don't see the point in continuing this thread. We all know that there isn't one king of all clays or any product.

Just as a reminder to any newbie (or anyone else for that matter) who might read this... Please do your homework before spouting off in the forums. We do have experts on the board who know their stuff better than most of us. We don't have this problem very often but it does crop up from time to time. Every member needs to be careful how they express their opinion so they don't sound like arrogent know-it-alls. Especially when they don't know it all. Like I said, we don't have this problem very often. This is why Autopia is so great. Thanks guys!
