Collinite 845, not as long lasting as it's claimed?

I've used Collinite 845 on my car the last time I detailed it (almost 2 moths ago), and it seems to have already worn off since there was no slickness to the finish or tight beading. Would a polish or sealant beforehand reduce it's bonding? I previously polished then applied Poorboy's EX and topped with 845. The car is outside 70% of the time, and I ususally try to wash every week or week and a half with Zaino Z7. I thought 845 was supposed to be one of the more durable LSPs? I've heard before of people getting close to 6 months of durability, but I would have expected maybe 2 1/2 to 3. I tried it again with EX x2 and 845 x2. Should it be holding up longer than this?

Re: Collinite 845, not as long lasting as it's claimed?

all depends on the conditions, IMO. my 845 lasts through WI winters and salt...but my car is garaged.

the frequency of washing, outside temp, acidic rain, etc all contribute to LSP failure.

I've used 845 over AIO and with only 2 washes and garaged at night, in one month, the beading was gone gone gone. I was dissapointed as hell.

Weird. Has a lot to do with bonding, although I can't explain Brandon's situation. I've seen up to 11 months of beading out of Polycharged 845 - although slickness was pretty much gone at that point.

This is strictly opinion only, but anytime you apply an LSP over something other than completely bare, clean paint, you're going to compromise its durability.

Re: Collinite 845, not as long lasting as it's claimed?

Brandon sold me his 845, and I was happy to get it. That is the only product I use on my wife's car...It gets bird bombed, and a lot of tree drippings at her office parking lot. I wash it weekly. I get at least 4 months from the stuff.

What's the difference between regular 845 and Polycharged 845?

I too was less than impressed by 845's durability. 3-4 months, even on one of those being a regular customer whose H2 was washed with ONR. I get better durability out of Meguiars #16 or FK's Pink Wax.

Re: Collinite 845, not as long lasting as it's claimed?

Hmm.

I have never been sold on this product but bought a bottle thinking it would be better then it was.

For example, i applied it to car i kept ungaraged. It sat for about 10 weeks and have a probably 4 washes of DG90X in that time. By the end it was only beading on the side panels of the car and even they looked like they had suffered alot.

Megs #16 seems to last longer (for me anyway!).

Geoff

I've had mixed results with 845. My truck lasted two months and my wife's denali lasted about a month.

Re: Collinite 845, not as long lasting as it's claimed?

Mine lasted all winter long. My car sat through 5+ months of snow and rain, and it was still beading up to a few weeks ago.
