DWG And AJT

If I am going to follow DWG with AJT, do I still need to apply Prime before the AJT?

Re: DWG And AJT

Funny, i just bought that combo for my car (i think it's gonna look absolutely sick on metallic silver)

anyway, to your question, no, prime is a cleaner. If you use it over DWG before the AJT, say goodbye to you coat of DWG.

Re: DWG And AJT

I'm gonna give it a go Wednesday and I'll definitely post pics if i manage to finish. I haven't machine polished my Buick before and i'll see what kind of progress i can make on GM clear with my PC...might be a two day. Process is going to be Pinnacle XMT(whatever # it takes to get out the marring), xmt360, DWG, AJT.

Re: DWG And AJT

I just tried usng the AJT and DWG combo on my wife's silver Dodge minivan. Used Prime Strong and then 2 layers of AJT, 1 layer of DWG applied with black pad on PC, and then 1 more layer of AJT. I figure that with the DWG being acrylic based would have the best bond and durability with the JW sealants. I had no compatibility issues. However, I had a hard time telling the difference between the panels with PS & AJT and the panels with PS/AJT & DWG. The DWG panels looked a little wetter but also had a ever so slight yellow tinge to them that has a slight darkening effect. The AJT only panels were brighter looking. The AJT only panels were slicker too. The DWG panels showed no improvement in the crispness of the reflections.

The final layer of AJT over the DWG brightened the paint again. I think that the 2 products are maybe to similar for the DWG to have the effect it has had when combined with other sealants. The JW combo does look great on silver. The flake does pop nicely.

Re: DWG And AJT

Sorry, I'm not much a picture taker. The wife's got a mediocre Kodak and then combine me having zero photography skills results in lame pictures. So no comparison photos. I could take some after shots but the car is covered in tree sap already. The trees have been spitting sap like crazy around me for the last 2 weeks. Add a little rain the cars are always a smeary mess. Well at least the heavy pollen is over with.
