Wash for new drying towels?

I recently just purchased a few blue drying towels from CCA. They come in their own bag, do i need to wash them before I use them or can I just start using them?

Re: Wash for new drying towels?

Always wash all your MF's before using to ensure any particles from the manufacturing/packaging are removed, so that you don't scratch your paint. Also, washing them reduces the likelihood that MF will leave lint behind.

Thanks for the info, I didn't know this.. I'll be washing my towels tonight Should I wash my window towels too? I can wash all my different MF towels together as long as no other media is in the washer too right?

Wash all of your MF's, including window towels so they don't lint. Do not mix towels that you use for removing wax or polish with your drying towels as the oil residues will contaminate your drying towels and they will loose their ability to absorb. Also, do not mix MF towels with cotton towels, as the MF's will pick up lint from the cotton towels.

Re: Wash for new drying towels?

For the MF's used for wax and polish, should I wash those separately from each other as well? Is there any special way to wash wax and polish towels?

I usually mix the two and have not had any problems. For these towels, I use Woolite Original (liquid) on normal cycle and warm water. The other towels I wash with the Sonus Der Wunder Wasche on delicate cycle Sonus Der Wunder Wasche and this has helped to maintain those MF's in excellent condition.

I too just wash them together with no problems. I do wash drying and glass towels by themselves to avoid cross-contamination.

I found that (to my surprise) the "MF Detergents" (scare-quotes intentional ) work a *LOT* better for me than regular liquid detergents. Probably my water, but who knows, they might work better for you too.

Re: Wash for new drying towels?

My wife thinks I"m anal about washing my car stuff. I'll do WW drying towels first , then glass towels, onto polish/wax towels, then wool mitts and finish w/ the mfs used on door jambs, wheels etc. All are line dried in the garage w/ a fan blowing in their direction. She definitely thinks I'm nuts not wanting to cross contaminate my stuff!

The cross contamination I worry about with glass towels is primarily MF lint, maybe you'll get lucky and not have a problem.
