P21S 100% Carnauba Wax - Long Term Test

March 27, 2008 - Initial Application
The purpose of this test is to see just how long this wax will last under daily driver conditions.

March 27, 2008 - Introducing The Victim
The victim in this test is a 2004 Grand Am GT. It is driven around 30 miles daily, and garaged at night. The car is washed weekly using softened water with DP Extreme and Duragloss Car Wash Concentrate.

March 27, 2008 - Wax Stripped and Paint Cleaned
The paint condition of this car is relativley healthy, with a few minor imperfections and slight oxidation. I've stripped any previous waxes using a distilled vinegar wash then using Meguiar's Medallion Paint Cleaner over the whole car. The paint cleaner left a considerable amount of oil, so the car was washed again before the P21S was applied.

March 27, 2008 - About P21S 100%
I bought this wax when it went on sale, it was about $35 shipped. I've been a big fan of the other P21S, S100, R333 products, but didn't think the waxes were durable enough for most daily drivers. In comparison to the other waxes, the 100% carnauba wax takes a little more effort to apply, but is still very easy. It's not quite as soft as the others, but if it were on a rating scale according to ease of use, it would rank right next to the beeswax versions.

March 27, 2008 - About P21S 100%
The wax spreads very easily, but takes some effort to find where it has been applied when spread thinly. This wax wipes of with no effort. It almost feels like it will slide right off of the car. It does not take much time to wax the entire vehicle using this product.

March 27, 2008 - P21S 100% Performance
I'm pleased with how the wax looks after application. It gives a nice bright finish.
The wax beads water nicely, that is what little water is left afterwards. I thought the 3M Wax I tested before sheeted well, but this wax does much better initially.

I've got more testing to do with this wax, so I should be posting updates soon.

Thanks for following along.

sweet! subbin. Where did you get it for $35? Been hesitant to get it at the $50 range. $35 I would cop.

Re: P21S 100% Carnauba Wax - Long Term Test

I bought it on sale on another site. I jumped when I saw it for $35. That's about my limit on how much I'll spend on a wax. The added 10% improvement the estate type waxes provide doesn't justify the added 100 - 1000% cost increase.

Look forward to the results.

Maybe a side-by-side with 'regular' P21S vs 100%?

Sorry, just being overcautious. I got it at Autogeek.

I like the idea of the side by side. That will be up next.

Re: P21S 100% Carnauba Wax - Long Term Test - Update

I've got an update. I must say I am impressed with how this wax looks. It seems to be holding on. As of April 6, 2008.

The wax is still beading nicely, but not quite the same as before. The car was very easy to wash, and rinsed clean pretty quickly.

The wax still has the same clarity as when it was initially applied.

The wax still appears fresh. The car always looks clean, even when dirty.

The reflections are still pretty clear.

Still impressed.

Thanks for looking! I'll have more updates soon.

I've had these pictures for a few weeks. I hope to get more posted soon. As of today, the wax is still holding up.
