So I wash myself well first and do the face last, that way the warm water and steam and open my pores and soften the hair. The I shave, then wash my face with a dedicated fasce wash.

After you've washed your face you can begin to shave. If you shave after your shower make sure to re-wet your face with warm water to soften your skin. Water also help the razor glide across your face creating a barrier for your skin. You're supposed to shave your hair, not your skin.

It is usually the last thing I do (face and head) allowing the hot water to soften up the skin and open the pores. Then I'll finish with an after shave balm.

The rest of the shave prep is more than taken care of with a good badger brush and shave cream. I like to specifically wash my face afterward to get rid of residual shave cream, remnants of shaved hair, and so on. Then, it's on to the back! (j/k )

The way I figure it, washing after shaving is like waxing your car before you wash it. To me, it doesn't make sense. The only time I wash after shaving is if I'm using Men-u cleanser as a toner (though I would still wash before shaving too). Here's a good little blurb from Men Essentials on the matter.
