Unhappy Smelly hair?

I don't know if any of you guys expierence this, but I have relatively short hair and my hair smells. It's not a horrendous smell, but I can notice it sometimes. No one else can notice it around me unless they put their nose to my hair. Anyway, is there any way I can get rid of it? I have tried switching shampoos but that didn't work. ATM I use head and shoulders. I change my pillow case weekly so that can't be it. My hair get oily very quick when I don't wear gel. I read online that using a shampoo with a high sulfur content can help fix it, but that seems a little odd. If anyone has any input that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Smelly hair?

i'm sure certain shampoos might help reduce the odor, but it could be your natural sweat glands which you may not really be able to do too much about...

Re: Smelly hair?

My Fiance says my head smells like puke sometimes and I am one or two steps away from a metro. So I am not sure there is much you can do.

Re: Smelly hair?

Pour some reducer on your head and work it in with a rag.

Re: Smelly hair?

I think it is caused by over production of sebum (don't know if that's the correct word?) in the scalp. I use a leave-in conditioning lotion that restores balance to the scalp, treats dandruff, and calms the scalp. I have tried products with "pyrithione zinc", but that wasn't what worked for me. You can try out a few different treatments to find one that works for you. The product I use is Scandinavian, so you probably can't get that, but you can read about it on Cutrin if you'd like to try to find something similar. On the homepage click english in the corner then Products > Series > Bio+ > Dandruff > Active Care.

Re: Smelly hair?

uh...you need to wash your scalp not just hair and don't use nail use the tip of your finger.
It' best to wash with warm water (not hot) for 3 mins and rinse throughly

good luck

Re: Smelly hair?

I wash my hair in the morning and at night before I go to bed. I don't understand how it smells though. I shaved my head before thinking that would help it, but nothing changed. I'll try out some of the products you guys recommended. Thanks for the input.

Re: Smelly hair?

Since it is bothersome I would seek some professional help. Have you tried visiting a dermatologist?

In this day in age with all of the knowledge available on the web we often forget about going to the doctor or seeking real help. Instead we turn to sites like WebMD and try to diagnose our own issues when we could only be harming ourselves.
