Static cling is well.... clingy

I recently moved into a new apartment. And my new washer and dryer makes all my clothes INSANELY staticy. So much that when I am at work, late in the afternoon, my pants STILL cling to m legs and make me feel like I am wearing spandex!!

Any tips or tricks to help eleviate this? Never happened before untill I moved (2 blocks away)...

Gracias!

Yes I have, and yes I have been using them for years. Bounce FTW. They just don't seem to help all that much in my 'new' dryer. Last night I did a load of laundry and used 3 in the dryer (probably over kill). It seemed to help out quite a bit, but they still came out slightly staticy

I guess this is just more annoying, then a problem. *sigh*

I think your dryer is the culprit..maybe you can turn the heat control down a little .iirc they sell a product i think it is called anti static cling don't qoute me on the name..

i had the same problem with my MFs in the dryer until i dried them on a lower setting and set the timer on 20mnts rather then a 1/2 hr..

I get the same issue with all my gym shorts. I have a spray I use on them called Static Guard I bought at the local pharmacy... Works well.

What about the dryer balls from Walmart, I've heard they work very well for eliminating stactic from MF's..

Can't remember what there called, maybe Bob's Balls? LOL

Re: Static cling is well.... clingy

Water is the enemy of static (on clothes, anyway)... I know its counter-intuitive, but maybe you can spray an extremely fine mist of water onto your clothes after you take them out? Rather, I guess once in a while... sounds like the cold, dry air are what is causing the problem?

Re: Static cling is well.... clingy

I experience the static every once in awhile and found that over-drying could be the culprit. I have a dryer with one of those built-in moisture sensors...unfortunately it's tuned to turn off the dryer when every last bit of wetness is gone. When I wait till its done, all my clothes have static - we're talking pants that hug the crotch for DAYS. Fortunately, the dryer rings when it's about to begin the "final" drying cycle so I just use that as my queue to take out the clothes. Their relatively dry with a slight hint of moisture - still perfect for hanging or folding. BTW, I use the same technique with MF towels to reduce their static cling.

Interesting. I had no idea. I guess I will keep a better watch of my clothes when they are in the dryer. I also thought that the cooler, drier air had soemthing to do with it. Doesn't happen to often in S FL :-p
