Re: Good hand guns
I just added another gun to my collection. A Kel Tec PF-9. I was not the biggest Kel Tec fan after shooting the P-11 but kept reading good things about the PF-9. I went to a local gun shop just planning to browse and they had one. It felt good so I took it. I ran 100 rounds of ammo through it Sunday without one single problem. I plan on running another 100 or so this week of another ammo brand just to make sure there are no troubles there either. I really like this gun so far.

Re: Good hand guns
I have a Sig P228 as well, and really enjoy shooting it. Has a nice solid feel to it. I've shot the Springfield XD line several times and they are great pistols. Wouldn't mind owning one, but when the window of opportunity opened for me to buy a pistol, I don't think they were out yet. On several occasions I've put a couple of hundred rounds through the P228 and it didn't even flinch. Really liked the Glocks as well and H&K pistols as well, but they were just outside of my budget.

Re: Good hand guns
Bring back up....
I'm finally going to be in the market for my first hand gun in a few months. So far at the top of my list is the Taurus PT 24/7 Pro
Taurus International Manufacturing Inc
Anybody own or fired this model by any chance??
It's going to be used for firing range and home defense.

I always liked the Sigs but they are a bit pricey. Had my eye on the 226 for years.

Re: Good hand guns
I love all the 'self defense' reasons for carrying a firearm.
Plan on getting into a shootout? Afraid you might bump into Jesse James or Black Bart?
By all means, you should really have you gun close so you could just fire away (in self defense) at someone in public. There is nothing scarier then standing in line at a store with some crazy looking guy with a loaded 9mm. Who are you afraid of? Make sure you have enough firepower to bring down a tank when you go to buy some wax. I have guns myself, but I don't bring them out into public. I don't want to take your guns away, but I'd like to give you some brains along with them.
They are great to collect, though. Can't blame someone for that.

I'm sure by now that you have heard something about the mall shooting that killed many innocent people. If you haven't, google it and read about it a little. If someone in the mall had have been able to have a concealed weapon, then that person could have possibly shot the offender before he killed more innocent people. The police would have done the same. Are you telling me it that isn't OK to defend yourself and your fellow human beings in a situation like that by concealing a handgun on your person just in case of a similar situation?
I'm not going to shoot someone just because they are stealing my wallet or my car or something of the like. Those are replaceable. But if they open fire on me, my family or anone else who is around me that is an innocent by-stander, then I would like to be able to have the chance to defent myself and them. Innocent life isn't replaceable.
And the shootings like the one in the mall and all of the schools are happening more. And with ith the media hype they get, it is sparking copy cats. I like the freedom to be able to carry a weapong and possibly defend myself and feel safer while doing so.
If you don't feel that way, that is completely fine. Good for you for sticking with what you believe. But don't come in here and criticise what other people believe.

Re: Good hand guns
I'm not being critical. Do what you like.
Don't think that you're gonna be Rambo with your gun and shoot a guy in a crowded mall without possibly hitting someone else probably hiding behind him. Do you really think if someone is shooting a loaded weapon, that you would walk towards them instead of trying to get out of the way, or guarding your family?
I'm just saying, uh, let's be real. This ain't the movies. You may think you're an action hero.

The cops don't seem to worry about that. If the guys we task with public safety are comfortable enough to carry in public, then I'm comfortable enough to do it for my own safety.
