I want to start lifting my dumbells again and am looking for some whey protein. I noticed some Riteaid stores have a GNC inside, do these sales co-inside with the regular GNC stores? | I get mine from GNC, Accumulatorette gets hers from Vitamin Shoppe- so we get all our stuff from those two places. No idea how the RiteAid places handle the Gold Card/etc. sales. FWIW my wife *really* prefers the Vitamin Shoppe, thinks their selection is a lot better; I always have to get my regular GNC (where they all know me) to order what I want.
Besides the taste issue you'll probably find that you digest some protein supplements a lot better than you do others.
My wife and I both like IsoPure but I find their Zero-Carb stuff inedible, really nasty tasting. I also like MetRX and some others, but you'll have to try different stuff to find what works best for *you*.

To help gain information, routines, motivation etc. are there any good health/fitness magazines out there? Thanks..

I've kinda gotten away from the magazines/etc. so I don't know which ones are any good these days. So many of them are just BS...all advertiser suck-up, crappy advice, just worthless (or worse).
If you haven't already read Body For Life you oughta read that book It's one of the few that I can think of off the top of my head and both my wife and my (then elderly) father got some worthwhile stuff out of it.

I was thinking of hitting the gym twice a day now. Once at 5:00 in the morning and another about 6:00 in the evening. Anyone else workout twice a day?

I've done it a few times but not all that often. Much as I enjoy lifting, it's just too much for me- I don't get the actual *results* to justify it. But then I'm an old guy who needs a lot of recovery time
I'm the same old broken record: find a routine that you'll stick with 99% of the time for years on end.
You oughta find a body composition testing place and find out how much of your 175 is really fat. Go from there regarding what you need to change, not just the scale.

There's really no need to workout twice a day either. Just when you do cardio, try it out on a empty stomach first thing in the morning 3-4 days a week tops. Do something high intensity like the stairmaster, or running, or intervals. This keeps your cardio fun and challenging and keeps it less than 25min workouts. It's great for burning fat too, and then wait about 45min after the cardio to have your protein shake. Doing the cardio first thing also ramps up your metabolism for the rest of the day as well.
As far as resistance training, make sure to do some sort of it 3 days a week, it's great for building muscle, which in turn burns calories, unlike fat. Just gaining 5lbs of muscle can help make tremendous strides towards dropping fat. Even though people often times don't *lose* weight with lifting weights/gaining muscle, they look *far* better and look slimmer than the scale says. Shoot most people are in shock when I tell them I weigh 225.
