Re: Bodybuilding and Detailing ...

Thanks, Accumulator.

You want to know my trap secret? I don't even train them directly. Haha. Same with my calves, and believe me, they're more like COWS. haha. Now if only my chest would grow that easily.

Re: Bodybuilding and Detailing ...

Thanks, Dean! As I just mentioned to Accumulator, I don't even train traps directly...but you're right, I love to deadlift. There is nothing like a HUGE pull to get you going. I've pulled 550 for a triple...with no straps. I'm also a pretty good squatter, but my bench is almost pathetic. 365 is my best bench...not very good for a guy that weighs 250+.

You're still looking great, man. Very nice conditioning you've got going. Keep up the good work, Dean.

I have been holding out on posting these...

I made quite a few mistakes with regards to diet, and was very unhappy with my condition. If you see pics from my competitive days from 10 years ago, you will see the difference. Overall it just inspires me to make some major improvements for my next show (possibly this fall).

Lost a lot of much needed mass during the diet and competed at a not ripped 217 lbs.

Was deadlifting this morning !!! I HATE DEADLIFTS, but nothing packs on mass like basic heavy compound movements.

D & D Auto Detail- Heh heh, I sure wouldn't ever call myself a bodybuilder either, but if you stay in good enough shape long enough *other people* will sometimes think that

That's an interesting field you're studying, and I predict it'll be interesting to compare your education info with your real-world experience.

Eisenhulk- Yeah, I think we all have those "magic muscle groups" that respond (or *don't*! ) despite what we do or don't do

Re: Bodybuilding and Detailing ...

Clean Dean, congrats on competing again, I know how much work goes into preparing for a show. When I was in college I dedicated a couple years of my life to bodybuilding and school and was very passionate about it. I was pretty steady at 5'10" 230 ~8% body fat. My days came to an end when I ruptured my Achilles tendon playing racquetball as part of my cardio routine. Since then I found my passion for detailing, started my business and didn't touch a weight for around 4 years. Luckily, my body retained a good amount mass and many people don't believe me when I say I haven't worked out. Recently I slowly started getting back into working out and dieting properly. It feels like I lost a ton of muscle mass, but it seems to be coming back pretty quickly for the little work I'm putting in.

Your pictures and dedication are inspiring. I'm not sure I'll ever get back into bodybuilding the way I was in college, but I sure do respect and appreciate all that goes in to everyone that does. I never had the stones to actually step on stage even though I prepared for a show I considered competing in. It's nice to see other detailers who were into bodybuilding, I've only met a couple. Congrats once again!

George
