I was wondering what websites you guys were running? If I could set them up with minimal help (I have no experience with that kind of work). I would like to be able to have a store feature as well as be able to display my services.

Also for those of you who do dealer work, did you just walk in and talk to the sales manager? Call ahead of time? Email? I personally would rather just walk in there and catch them by surprise. I would be offering them compund/polishing along as Cquartz and Opti-Coat. As well as a few other random services not generally done my the dealer. I believe I will be the only Detailer in the area who offers the 2 products. Thanks!!

If you can provide that level of service for the price dealerships are usually prepared to pay and show a profit; more power to you

Do a few a month from Merecdes and Ford. They came to me though. Was looking for more, I'm not looking to take over their used car reconditions or delivery overflow.

Check out intuit.com, their website builder is very easy to use and gives nice results. My current website is on it, you can click the link in my signature. Just scroll to the bottom of any of the pages on my site and there should be a direct link to intuit's website hosting/site builder.

When I was looking for dealer work, I would send them a letter or brochure and then a few days after I was sure they got it, I would pop in and tell them I was in the area so I thought I'd just stop in and say hi and see if they got the letter. Don't be pushy with them, just ask if they could use any help with their detailing and go from there. Expect to NOT be paid well for busting your *** though. IME, dealer work should only be considered in the winter, if you are in an area where it affects your retail business alot and other slow times. Unless you plan to do a high volume of work, have good help, etc, you will not make much $ doing dealer work.

I use Weebly. Pretty easy to set up and looks better than most website generators. Plus it's free for the basic account, which is all you need. I only pay for my domain name.

I use the Go Daddy web builder. For a easy do it yourself type of program for beginners, it's OK but slow and has some glitches that you have to learn to work around. It's pretty cheap and for a temporary website with your services and store it does fine. Check out my site for an example (which isn't done and needs some correcting, more photos and other areas cleaned up). I have no website experience and neither does my girlfriend and both of us put it together in a few nights and over the weeks touched things up here and there.
