W/out TRAILER ? ??
I have applied for my assumed business name, checked on quotes from insurance companies, going to run legal notice in newspaper.
I drive an 83 Chevy caprice and want to offer wash/dry, interior detail, carpet & upholstery shampooing, and dress trim inside and out, also wheel & rim cleaning/conditioning, and engine cleaning. Oh and offer claying and waxing..
IS THIS POSSIBLE to do or is this just some dream of mine???
Can I not start for basic detailing, and then move my way up once I can get some $$ coming in to get better equipment?
ANYONE PLEASE HELP

Re: W/out TRAILER ? ??
Is it possible?? Sure. look around for a minute. Tons of other guys on here detailing like that. I'm really not sure what you're seeing as an issue here. Looks pretty run of the mill to me.
The only question I have from what I see is if the clay marr's the paint (which it more than likely will) what do you offer as a corrective service?

Your right, nevermind on that, lack of thinking into it, I seem to want to get ahead of myself. Just Need to stick to what I know.

Is this really an issue? If he's not offering correction in the first place, what's the difference if he adds some marring from claying? 99% of the cars he works on are going to be swirled to heck anyway, so who is going to notice a little clay marring, and at least there won't be any bonded contaminants.

Re: W/out TRAILER ? ??
huge difference between circuler swirls from the swirl o matics and back and forth scratches he installs to the paint... I wouldn't want a detailer actually making my car worse than it was when I gave it to him.

I guess we're back to the argument of are you a detailer if you are only cleaning and not correcting? Is it ok for a "cleaner" to put clay scratches into the car if he's removing a bunch of other crap? One could make an argument that on a typical car claying with a little marring is an improvement over what it was before...isn't that what 99% of the people who buy clay from Pep Boys and do it themselves are doing? Just claying and then waxing after? And they seem to think they are gaining from it...or at least they believe what the box is telling them.
Certainly if you read the instructions on any OTC clay, they don't say "don't use this unless you are going to abrasively polish after". I'm not really arguing with you Jake, it just seems like the OP's target market isn't really going to be able to discern clay marring.

Re: W/out TRAILER ? ??
I simply asked what corrective measures he planned on taking.. Something as simple as using a high gloss filler wax would be enough for what he's offering.

Here is what I've came up with
Basic detail: $70 $90 SUV/ext.trucks
Basic detail w/Wax: $100 $130SUV/ext.truck
Interior Only: $35
Wash & dry: $18 $25SUV/ext.truck
Maybe if I keep it simple for now until I can build up clientele.
What Do you guy's think??????
