Logo design...

I've been playing with some ideas for a logo over the past couple months on and off... I want something recognizable and something that can go from artistic (flyers, graphics, etc.) to something classy for business cards (I plan on having 2, one like the current one I have, seen here & here, and another just black/white 'regular' card), letter heads, etc.

I'm more or less set on something like in the image below (very very rough draft) but may possibly include the 'D' for 'detailing'...

Anyway, I'd like some input from fellow members, web designers, etc. and feel free to throw up an edited version of my design that I can steal haha

Re: Logo design...

I actually think the orange "L" only would work out just fine for you if you keep all things black!

Yea I'm trying to keep it black, white and a hint of red/orange here and there... I'll mess with just the L but I like the LA together like that for some reason...

Re: Logo design...

Well for some reason I can only see the 2nd and 3rd one. The 1st one is always a little red "x" so I can't comment on that one. But I like the last one. It add's a bit of flavor. I can see it on a t-sirt or a ball cap easily enough. I think it's simple yet effective.

Re: Logo design...

I think the LA logo looks too much like the Dodgers, and the LAD too abstract.

I'm working on some new signage of my own while I teach myself to use Illustrator. Let me see what happens if I plug LAD in there and mix stuff up a little bit, back in 10.

I'm not 'afraid' of it looking like the Dodgers logo.... it's different, different colors, and plus it will usually have the name text next to it... I like the LA logo because as Jake said, it can be very distinguishable but I'm still not set on the colors/design of it
