Water softener
Could someone recommend to me, a good water softener. When I detail, I use water from the tap on the side a the house. Here in Texas, the water has so much mineral in it, that it is impossible to not have water spots, even using a leak blower.
Anyways, can someone recommend one that will last, and that is low-priced? Thanks,
--dylan
EDIT: Is this one Okay?

Re: Water softener
I think you want a softener not a filter, or maybe both. Autogeek.net sells them (which is the same as the Amazon listing you posted)

Re: Water softener
Read the following thread and put one of those together for about $100 or step up and buy a CR Spotless:
*Cheap* replacement for CRSpotless
CRSpotless.com - Wash, Rinse, and Walk Away
The el-cheapo version works OK as long as you keep the water flow down..... I only use it for a final rinse. The softener filter you linked to still left some light spots when I used it.

Re: Water softener
How long do the filters last in the CR system? Also is the one on wheels more expensive just because its portable?

Re: Water softener
Spot Free filter works well and is economical. You recharge by simply running salt water through the unit. Takes about 15 minutes and cost pennies.

Re: Water softener
So would there be no need to dry after rinsing with this? Worst case scenario lets say I just rinse off the car and dont dry it and leave it in the sun for an hour or so. Can there really be no water spots even like this? Or what if it went straight into the garage after the final rinse and no drying?

Re: Water softener
Usually that is not the case, but it will turn very hard water into soft water. This makes soaps and cleaners work better and REDUCES the chances of water spots.

Re: Water softener
I have this product Portable DI Water Filter Systems | Portable Water Deionizers | On The Go®
it is Deionized water and makes for a spot free rinse. Wash the car, rinse with DI water and you can leave it in the sun or garage to dry spot free.
