Exclamation Successful service packages

I have made the switch to hourly in the recent months, and I have the common question asked, “How much do you charge for a detail?” Now I explain that all of my work is customized to their vehicles needs, and then provide some scenarios. The only thing I keep thinking is that I am getting too technical over the phone. I never lose business when I talk to these people, they always book with me. My feeling is that I can create a better way of describing these services I offer. Mainly I want them to know I have several ways I can work on their car from general upkeep to extensive detailing services. Do any of you have any ideas or suggestions as to how I can keep the convos short and to the point, and still offer pertinent info? Thank you very much for any input you are able to provide!

Re: Successful service packages

I try to get as much information as I can about the vehicle, the color, condition, etc and what the owner expects. I can then give them a starting price and an explaination what would trigger additions to the price. That way, there are no suprises.

I personally, tell them alittle bit about the process, but emphisize we meet in person to talk. This way, you can get a feel for the person, see what they expect and actually show them flaws or problem areas. Less talking on the phone to better for me. Not many people can sell over the phone...its very tought to do and if you say you can, i'de challenge you on it...

Haha.. a challange... hmm, well I would say that having come from a business oriented family with nothing but sales skills being imbedded in my mind, talking to people is very natural. Plus I did telemarketing for a few years in H.S. Closing the deal is not the problem, I just want to dillute my convo's down so I don't drown people in info. In the last couple days I have taken some time to focus on this, and so far so good. I always like to get feedback from others. Since I don't know it all, or proclaim to know it all, I always learn something from fellow Autopians. I do appreciate your reply and I will def agree with you that speaking to someone in person is way more productive than over the phone, especially if that person prefers visual communication.
