Re: insurance?
Contact an independant insurance agent and get some advise/quotes? Try to have them give you a Travelers Insurance quote.

Re: insurance?
What is a ballpark figure for this type of insurance?
Any particular options that should be selected or not?

Re: insurance?
You will want to look at both General Liability (covers something like if a client were to trip over your buffer cord) as well as Garage Keepers (covers the car itself while it is in your care - even if you are mobile, the car would be "in your care" while you worked on it).
In regards to General Liability, most people start with quotes at $300,000 and go up to the millions. Before you select a coverage amount, you need to think about where you will be working. If you ever plan on working on a dealer's lot (if a client is having you detail a car prior to them taking delivery), or apartment or hotel parking lots, some of these type places typically require anyone working on their property to carry a certain dollar amount in General Liability coverage (typically $1,000,000).

Re: insurance?
I work at an HVAC parts house during the week, but wash and detail on weekends. I've already let some contractors know the services I will offer but some have asked for insurance and others for a proper bill. I only want to cover myself and one car

Re: insurance?
In general what is the cost of such insurance per month or year?
Are we talking tens, hundreds, thousands...?

Re: insurance?
It's all underwritten per your "exposure". I think a person doing mobile detailing part time work can get a policy for $500-$1000/year.

Re: insurance?
Mine is $1200 a year, but I'm not mobile. That includes general liability up to $1,000,000.
