Re: Autopia Detailer's Directory

I'd like to test the zip code range finder when it's implemented for testing. I'm thinking of something that would be very user friendly for those that are simply visiting the site looking for a detailer local to them (i.e. a banner that says "Looking for a detailer in your area? Search here!").

Something of that degree. Just throwing anything out there.

Okay, you should be able to edit/update your listings now without requiring my approval to go live.

THAT IS EXACTLY THE PLAN!

The "Find me a Detailer" by zip code works on a radius off of the Lat./Long. from the center of the zip code area.

I will have this ready for US and CA in 5-7 days.

Re: Autopia Detailer's Directory

Oh David, since you have to approve of all the changes to listings and what not, I think it would be nice to be able to preview our listing before we submit it to you for final approval (for aesthetic reasons).

Oh also, it seems email addresses don't show in the listing but everything else does.

Re: Autopia Detailer's Directory

My browser is crashing after I cut and paste text into the description. I'm using Firefox 2.0.0.6 with Ubuntu 7.10. Third times the charm?

I'm testing with FF 2.0.0.14 and have not had any crashing issues for a long while. I have not tested with Ubuntu.

David, looks excellent. Thank you for this tool!
By the way, I like your review by Mr. Rogers.

Re: Autopia Detailer's Directory

I was able to register without a problem...hope I made it to be eligible for a free upgrade to silver. This should make finding a quality detailer much easier for the average person, thanks David.

I worked around it by not pasting anything. For some reason that spells the end of FF.

If you are cutting/pasting out of a program like Word, that is the likely problem. Word and other word processor application create special character that might make the browser or my database barf. You can get around this by first pasting to a plain text editor, like Notepad, then cut/past out of Notepad into the browser form.
