Black Ferrari Challenge Stradale

This car came to the shop and the owner (2nd owner) wanted to have me remove the clear bra material on the front end as it was originally put on over swirled paint. What a chore!.....2.5 hours because I was a) careful and b) inexperienced in clear film removal.

The paint was pretty swirled everywhere but here's some samples

Washed down with ONR and corrected with Meg's 83 and Menzerna 106ff.

Final products were Zaino AIO applied with the Festool to remove some stray light scratches, then Z5 Pro with the Festool and a final wipe with Z8.

The sun cooperated for a few minutes today and I grabbed some outdoor pics

And a few shots inside the shop

I got to try out AutoGeek's microfiber shop apron. Works well and the velcro cord loops are a definite plus when leaning over the car.

Next Up is a gray twin turbo Porsche 996

car looks absolutely amazing I find it funny though that the tow hook was left on. Or unless you used it to move the car?

I think it's one of those "gotta have" accessories to show that you are race track ready (probably not)

I received some great tips from a pro-installer in Atlanta (one of the AutoGeek folks sent me his name and phone). Basically, I warmed the area with the halogens (he recommended luke warm on the body panels), then got a start and used a small steamer to keep the 3M material pliable as I removed it. The best tip was pulling the material straight towards your body, not folding or peeling it as that could grab some paint.

Great work on the clear bra removal Toto. I know of a local 3M installer who installed one of a new 350Z with the headlight lens covers. The owner wasn't happy and asked that it be removed. Needless to say when he was peeling it off he peeled the paint right off with it and cracked the 350Z headlight when the lens cover was removed. It was a pricey fix to his error...

Re: Black Ferrari Challenge Stradale

Yikes! Awesome work! I worked on a GT3 in August with one of my customers and we removed a 3m clear bra. Heat gun on low and plastic razor blades were what we used.
